The metro in Tashkent is ridiculously good value for money, I think 1400 Som a ticket (around 10p). Each ticket allows unlimited travel until you leave a station so you could visit every station, which would probably take a few hours, for 10p. Each station was decorated with its own theme and colour scheme. We saw a few but the cosmonaut one was by far the best. All the stations were spotlessly clean and well organised despite the trains themselves being crowded.

A great experience and must do if you’re in Tashkent. The metro stations are ornately decorated, some even have chandeliers. The facility is highly functional and allows you to access most places. And the cost is negligible. A very useful and robust piece is infrastructure from the Russian days.

it's not the Moscow metro, but it was a nice reminder of that place. We visited a couple of lovely stations on our own private tour. We started at Kosmonatav station and went to and from there to Mustakliik Madon station. Both are quite beautiful and different from each other. Perhaps there are other stations we could have visited had we known more and had more time.

For UZS 2000 (around USD0.17 or INR14) you can have practically a half day tour of architecturally spectacular metro stations of Tashkent. Built in 70s represent Soviet style with one difference - unlike in Prague the stations are not dug deep. We visited following stations during my recent trip 1. Novza 8.Mustaqillik Mydoni 9.Kosmonavtlar 10.Pushkin Beauty of these stations is that each station is themed around something. Eg. Kosmomavtlar is cantered around space exploration A really nice experience

Very confusing nato navigate but people were very helpful. Be sure to take a screenshot of a metro line map if you find one, they are rare, as are signs and information identifying the stations and how to change lines. Still a very cheap way to get around and a worthy tourist attraction in itself

The Soviet era brought significant investments in public transportation. Inexpensive, clean and efficient, its bright, decorated halls add to the experience. Each hall has a different theme. It opened in 1977 and is the laragest metro in Central Asia. While it was crowded, I was impressed by how polite people were. Elderly people were shown a respect that is rarely seen in thwe Washington DC metro.

Worth going down and riding a few stops at least if you have time. Very affordable, it is usually busy, but the architecture in some of the stations is beautiful. As we were on a short visit only managed to see a couple of them. Until a few years ago photography was banned, but no longer, you can take photos with no problem. Also like Tashkent itself, very clean and safe, but would keep your belongings close, just in case of pick pockets, can be very crowded.

On the first day of our arrival at Tashkent on 30/08/24, after breakfast at Kaarvan Restaurant, then check in to our hotel Raddison Blu, we all started our city tour. After seeing the Amir Timur Memorial, we reached the Independence Square. But before entering the square, we went to the Metro station right at the square, and took a ride on the famous Tashkent Metro. We got down at many stations and every station has a unique beautiful architecture . It was the seventh metro to be built in the former USSR, opening in 1977, and the first metro in Central Asia. Each station is designed around a particular theme, often reflected in the station name.The Tashkent Metro consists of four lines, operating on 70.4 kilometres (43.74 mi) of route and serving 50 stations.In 2023, the metro carried 190.7 million passengers,which corresponds to a daily average of approximately 620,000 passengers. Planning for the Tashkent Metro started in 1968, two years after a major earthquake struck the city in 1966. Construction on the first line began in 1972 and it opened on 6 November 1977 with nine stations. This line was extended in 1980, and the second line was added in 1984. The most recent line is the Circle (Halqa) Line, the first section of which opened in 2020. A northern extension of the Yunusobod Line for 2 stations Turkiston and Yunusobod was completed and opened on 29 August 2020. The fourth Circle line is currently under construction, first 7 stations for the line have already been built in 2020. We spent a couple of hours hopping on and off at various stations capturing wonderful pics. A not to be missed adventure. Even the tickets are quite cheap
