I was excpecting a huge palace with sumpteous vast and endless rooms , halls, throne rooms, etc. Instead, I found several rather small seperate buildings spreadout in the grounds of the palace. Furthermore, the Harem, which had separate access tickets, had only a very small and unimpressive portion open. Unfortunately, the day we visited, the Treasury, which is the best... More

We took a night dinner cruise on the Bosphorus and it was a fabulous experience. Met great people from different and diverse places in the world. The night cruise experience was great because of the night lights and ambience on a balmy night. It provides the visitor a different view of some sights that they may have seen during the... More

The most beautiful vistas and photo ops are right here. when leaving Istanbul on the ferry or bridge you are crossing from Europe to asia and both sides are naturally exquisite. Turkey is simply a Natural wonder of the world!

We took a ferry ride from the harbour up to and past the new bridges. The day was sunny and blue sky. The ferry ride was a great way to see the contrast of old and new!!

Absolutely wonderful cruise to do. First of all you get as lovely view of Sultanahmet and central Istanbul, especially the Galata area with the Galata Sarayi. ALos as you leave Istanbul there are some charming little villages al the way out to Anadolu Kavagi wehere the Bosphorus widens out. Such a relaxing way to see the area, you meet great... More

A great way to see and experience the Bosphorus Strait is by boat. Anywhere along the pier one can find the tour boats that sail you along.

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
