Neighbourhood: Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The museum is a good visit. Has historic building of the Sultans. Also houses the relics of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) which is a great site.
A slight downside is that the tickets are a bit pricey around 320tl (equivalent to roughly £16 per person) - for a family of 5, it was was expensive.

Huge Ottoman palace. The palace is massive so plan to spend some time. The palace is preserved not restored so won't see furniture etc in the rooms. There are several fascinating exhibits. The Kitchen exhibit ad the Sultan's clothes exhibit were very cool.

This was an interesting visit and one of the must do places to visit when in Istanbul
It has been renovated/ restored immaculately with plenty of displays to highlight the opulence of the palace.
The architecture and history is so interesting. Our guide gave us a lot of of background and context but there are a lot of information boards in English to give you enough information without a guide.
Top tip if you don't have a guide you can get free audio guides as part of your entry fee.
Again top tip: I would recommend buying the palace and museum ticket including the Harem (You can get these from machines outside the palace using a card or cash) I would also reccomend a visit the Kitchens and displays first as they have some amazing displays of the opulent lifestyle in cooking serving and eating giving us the full picture of Palace life.
The Harem is particularly stunning and adds to the story It also has some good viewpoints
The museum showed of all the oppopulace and riches of the empire from wealth to its weapons and everyday life and again you need a morning or afternoon to see it comfortably

It is the palace where the Ottoman sultans lived and was used as the administrative center of the state for 400 years of the 600-year history of the Ottoman Empire. Many items, objects and works of historical value used in that period are exhibited in Birun, Enderun, Baghdad Mansion, Mecidiye Mansion, Revan Mansion, Circumcision Room, Kitchen and courtyards, which were areas where nearly 4,000 people once lived.
