The Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent is indeed a treat for u our eyes. It's huge, beautiful chandeliers, great dome. Blue tile work. The view from the outside is a sweeping view of Istanbul. Do visit this gem if u have the time. Get down at Grand bazaar metro station and walk straight. Takes about 12 to 15 mins.

In his death Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent wanted to be nothing but a father united with his children. His favourite wife Hürrem lies in a mausoleum of her own next to Süleyman's. Both tombs can be visited on the grounds of Süleymaniye Camii. Before you enter the buildings you have to put off your shoes and women have to cover their heads.
The two tombs are decorated with tiles and with mother-of-pearl Inlays. The coffins are covered with green carpets. Around the tombs is an Ottoman graveyard with tilted tombstones. Beautiful iris grow there in the summertime. From the mosque you can enjoy an enthralling view of the other side of the Golden Horn.

Tourists who never get out of the Sultanahmet area get to see the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofia and a range of other quite fine attractions. However one other particularly large and powerful looking mosque is the Suleymaniye Mosque and within the grounds of this is the tomb of Suleiman the Magnificent.
It isn't brilliantly signposted to tell the truth and on its own isn't particularly moving or impressive given you just get to look inside the building and look at a row of coffins covered with green cloth. It is, to most intents and purposes, just the same as the tombs in the annex of the Aya Sofia.
But it is a curio to stand there and realise that this is where this man, who did so much to shape our views of the Turks and the Ottoman Empire, lays. Definitely poke your head in as you walk up towards the mosque entrance and take time also to reflect quietly on the cemetery that surrounds the tomb.
There are nice photos over towards the Golden Horn and the Galata Tower from the garden out the front.

This is nicely tucked away hence not many tourists know about this as i saw scores walk past the tombs gate and not even glance this way. Entry is FREE and no lines etc. I liked the art work and clean ambience. Lil upsetting to see some people talking loudly laughing standing next to the tombs also complaining that they had to leave their shoes out before entering the tomb area. Well thats the rule so please do wear socks if uncomfortable with removing shoes. Please enjoy the history and nice walks through the gardens surrounding the tombs. Have a nice day.

The octagonal mausoleum is located nearby Suleymaniye Mosque, it is relatively small, all its walls are covered with beautifully decorated tile tiles and the ceiling is wonderfully painted. Two of the sultan's daughters and one of his brothers are buried here as well.

The outside of the tomb is lovely to look at, but unfortunately it wasn’t open on the day we visit, October 7th. The adjacent tomb of his favorite wife, Hurrem, wasn’t open, but you could take a peek inside by looking through a side window. Beautiful blue tiles seen on the walls with the elaborate yet simple tombs in the center. Hopefully will get the chance to come back again and go inside for a closer look.
