One of the best places in İstanbul to take spectacular photos, the gulls are flying next to fishermenand people to get some bread, people are walking fast to their works or to their houses. Besides all there is huge traffic. Galata bridge is a kind of complicated bridge with spectacular view and breathtaking place ! Must see

The Galata Brigde are just a brigde, but also so very much more. It's an icon, a symbol of communication and a famous traveling hub. Busy and sometimes crowded, but yes it ischarming

As I was in Sultanahmet bridge was on my way to Taxim square. View from the bridge is nice, especially in night with all lights around. People are fisihing like crazy and below there are many restaurants I did not visited so cannot recommend them.

Galata bridge as a symbol is very good place and also location is very good. If you want to eat something the adventure will begin. When you start your head turning arround reastaurant staff will start to disturb with saying "come here, come here". It is really hard to say which one is good for having lunch or dinner. You... We took the tram across this bridge several times during our recent trip and walked across it a few times. We also ate at one of the restaurants that are under the bridge at both ends. The highlight for us was watching the fishermen lined along the sides catching plenty of fish with their rods and reels.

Wasn't a planned trip. Happened to be in the vicinity so decided to go see it. Don't regret it. Very nice views on both sides of the bridge towards the river and also towards land. Was there on a hot day the cool breeze felt most welcome.

An unique view to Istanbul, the sea and all those fishermen on the sides, having full bowls of fresh fish, fish restaurants underneath it and a view platform

Well worth the effort. An easy walk and the best way to cross the river. Fishermen crowd the edges of the bridge and the views out along the Govern Horn are beautiful. The restaurants seem to cater to tourists and you will be asked multiple times to enter an establishment. But well worth a stop for a beer and a... More

There is nothing more unique and nothing more enchanting than walking over (or under) the Galata Bridge. Step 1: Go to Istanbul. Step 2: Go to Galata Bridge. Step 3: Watch out for shoe shine scammers. Step 4: Take lotsa pictures. Step 5: Explore the rest of Istanbul. Unique and adventurous in every way!!!

If you manage to avoid the busy hours, you will enjoy the view, a nice coffee as a break to your walk and some nice souvenirs at the shop. Don't forget to read about the history and the various uses it has had in the past!

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
