I ended up here several times and never got tired of watching everything that's going on. The ferries, the fishermen, the tram, etc. This is certainly one of the most exciting places in the world.

As you stand on the Bridge, you can see all the many faces of Istanbul. I actaully love to walk this city and discover the shops, its people, its bazar and on this bridge its Fishermen. Enjoyable, really

Galata Bridge spans the Golden Horn taking and you can also get pretty views of Istanbul with the imposing domes of the various mosques. On the bridge you will see many people fishing, under the bridge you will find restaurants selling fish sandwiches.

I took a walk on the bridge on a Sunday. Lots of fishermen with lines dropping down the bridge. We could see several boats as well taking people on rides on the river. Under the bridge are restaurants serving lots of seafood. You will get the smell of fresh seafood and the river generally. I eventually settled in a restaurant... More

Whenever we go to Istanbul we transverse this bridge regularly to go from Eminonu to Karakoy. This is where you can enjoy the classic postcard view of Istanbul's dome upon dome of mosques from Golden Horn. I really enjoy the hustle bustle of tour boats, ferries and fishing vessels here. The only things I dislike about this bridge are the... More

The place is amazing with hundreds of fishermen plying the bosphorus river.i had the famous fish snack which was very tasty. The area is abuzz with boats offering cruises around the river and a good array of restaurants offering various fish dishes. The bridge is close to the spice market. A ferry ride from the European side to the eastern... More

Bridge is full of fishermen and is an exciting place to see some of the skyline of Istanbul. You walk across the bridge to go to Galatea Tower.

Walk across it - watch the fishermen on their bridge 24/7. Dodge the smells that come along also with that. Go to fish restaurants underneath or just behind the fresh fish buns are for sale. We didn't enjoy our fish from these though this time - the pieces were quite boney and didn't taste that nice. Disappointing really.

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
