This building has been featured in several James Bond films, there is a restaurant inside and and cafe at the of the tower. We just viewed this on the boat cruise, the Maiden's Tower is also known as Leander's Tower. It lies on small islet on the Bosphorus strait.

I like looking at the Eiffel Tower at a distance and have never been to the top of the Empire State building, so I have a biased view and recommend viewing this structure in the middle of Marmara off the coast at a DISTANCE. Prefer to sail around it, go to a nice restaurant to eat around Kadikoy and admire... More

The Maiden tower is believed to be built by Byzantine emperor to protect his sister from some prophecy but anyway she died because of a snake attack from a basket that was brought from mainland ! It gives beautiful view for you to take a photo from main land ! Must see

It was said that a fortune teller told the king that his daughter will be bitten by a snake and die, ever since the king tried his best to protect his daughter so he finally decided to send her to live in this tower, food and all required... Recently ticked a visit to the tower of the bucket list. Interesting location with good views from the top of the tower. Restaurant on site however we did not stay to eat. The tower can be reached via a small ferry for 20 TL.

Visited here today. The tower provides a great view of both sides of Istanbul. At 20 Lira it isn't too expensive. The exerts from history and stories surrounding the tower are a good read. There is a cafe/restaurant and bar available, but I didn't get to witness any of the 3.

Istanbul, half in Europe half in Asia; well, if you are at that point you really should cross to the Asian side or to the European (depend your location) take the ferry (very very cheap), and enjoy the short trip through the sea between continents, the air in you face and the amazing view from both sides of the city,... I have been to Istanbul before and crossed Maidens tower at least few times but never been to the Island. It looks beautiful from outside. Maybe on my next visit I'll go there. A lot of people recommend visiting.

I seen no reason to actually step on he island after seeing it from a boat tour. It makes for a good photo along the water.

Staying in Uskudar

Neighbourhood Profile
Uskudar
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.
