We were shopping the spice bazaar and entered Aladdin's. What a great find. We sampled caviar and drank tea with a wonderful gentleman. We bought caviar, spices, saffron, rose oil / water and or course, Turkish delight. The items were vacuum sealed and when we got home 6 weeks later, they were fresh and tasty. Prices are very negotiable.

Simple with all the basics covered in Aladdin Hotel. Good for a back packer. The period in Apr was a peak tourist season for Istanbul. Prices were a little higher across sultanahmet area. Enjoyed my daily chat with the friendly receptionist every morning before I went out to tour the city. Breakfast area was right at the top of the... More

With the hustle and bustle of the on-goings of the Egyptian Bazaar, or more commonly known as the Spice Bazaar, it was nice to visit a shop that appeared authentically nice. The staff we re exceedingly courteous and helpful allowing us to sample the spices and sweets explaining the history and cooking methods. Look this place up when you're transiting... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
