Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ryan was an amazing, fun and knowledgeable guide. Not only sharing insightful historical facts about old Jerusalem but also feeding us with interesting trivia and recommendations on what to do and where to eat. I have been to several free walking tours and, definitely, Ryan ranks among the top 3.

It was a okay way to get introduced to the old city. It was hard to hear the tour guide at times. Also he tended to skip from one story to another one before he completed the first story, which made it difficult to follow.

During our first visit to Jerusalem, we wanted to make sure we visited all relevant places, getting to know about local history and religious. Our guide- Phil from Chicago- did an excellent job, making the tour entertaining and dynamic. Highly recommended.

Ryan was an incredible tour guide. I've done many walking tours in various cities and this one was by far the best. He was knowledgeable and infectiously passionate about the history and architecture of old Jerusalem. The tour started at Jaffa gate on a very warm day and Ryan went above and beyond to keep us all hydrated and comfortable. All round wonderful experience and some very special memories made in Jerusalem on this tour. Thank you so much Ryan, we had a blast! If you're looking for a walking tour, look no further!

This was a great tour given by an amazing guide. Phil was great, he kept it interesting and interactive but provided a ton of information. He took us all over and made sure we didn’t miss a thing.

Ryan was an absolutely fantastic guide. He was probably one of the most knowledgeable guides I have ever had – he knew things well beyond the standard tour script and was able to comfortably answer all the side questions we had. It shows that he has studied history, politics and religion and understands the nuances of Jerusalem as seen from Jewish, Christian and Muslim perspectives. If he runs a little long on the tour, it’s because he is trying to give you a valuable experience that does justice to the marvellous place you are in. Definitely worth it!

I had only limited time in Jerusalem. I love exploring new cities by doing a guided walking tour but this one was truly one of the most unforgettable walking tours I have been on. I took the morning tour and Phil was our guide. The way he managed to tell the stories and make the city come to life was truly exceptional. He told different stories from all three religions, and rather than emphasising what sets them apart he showed beauty in each, thus pointing to peace rather than division. Whilst not being religious myself I was very moved by this. I was so caught by his storytelling capacity that I even took the afternoon walking tour and I don't regret that all! As he had promised, Phil did a totally different tour, telling many different stories, but all equally mesmerising. Storytelling is an art and it is a privilege to watch and listen to someone who masters this art so well. I need to come back to this city with its immensely rich history to savour everything more fully, but this was already extremely rewarding. Thank you Phil, also for the great recommendations afterwards. It was worthwhile every second.

You would be so lucky to get Phil as your guide. (parkour!) He really made the history digestible and interesting! This is a place that has had millennia of major events and it would be easy to get information overload, but not on our tour. We didn't walk too much and Phil always tried to find us shade when we stopped. Doing this for in the morning made exploring and getting lost in the city even more enjoyable.

About how many people are on the Holy City Tour and the Mount of Olives Tour? Is there any kind of sound device used so that all can hear the commentary?

Sorry...only went on the free walking tour of the old city.
There were around 15 to 20...he spoke loud & took us to the side. No devices on this free tour.
As you know “free” but expected to tip which I have no problem...that’s how it works & still cheaper than other tours. As I said I have had better guides but it is the lack of the draw. One I had in tel Aviv was excellent!
