This is a great place to see all of Jerusalem shopping for Shabbat on a Friday afternoon. Get to the marzipan bakery. Their chocolate rugelach are divine and I loved their burekas.

That´s the first place you want the visit in Jerusalem, and the last one before you leave. The Mahane Yehuda Market is a crazy mix of old ladies for fruits and vegetables for the Shabbat cooking, Yemenite merchants shouting and rhyming about how good their tomatoes are, boutique jewelry shops, and tourists. The stands are fun, the sellers are funny,... More

The best market experience we had in Israel. It's loud and busy, and it has all the charm of the middle eastern market. The market offers a great variety of fresh produce, as well as dry fruit, nuts, & spices; delicious desserts; cheese & deli meats are sold right next to some really good Israeli wine (not Manischewitz good but... Enjoy the market in the busy morning time and explore small size bites and drinks every were you can, and then... More

Totally enjoyed my visit the market is full of atmosphere and noise. The market traders ply their goods at the top of their voices, so funny to listen too. The halva stalls are amazing as are the spice and tea selections. I will not forget the sounds of " allo allo banana ban nan a. Go for a light hearted... More

Friends told us about a walking tour they were going to do on a Monday with Sybil Kaplan, a local resident with an extraordinary knowledge of the history and current make up of the market stalls. While the market is always busy we were fortunate that it was not as packed as a Friday meaning we could spend more time... More
