We went to a friend's son's barmitzvah in Jerusalem in June 2018. The ceremony took place in only one of the halls which seat at a guess around 100 people plus a ladies section upstairs.

These four shuls offer a great glimpse into Sephardic history in Jerusalem. I would have liked it better with a dossan. To much of a ti.e line intertwined in the four buildings . definitely go but be prepared to research yourself through the history.

During the War of Independence many residents of the Jewish Quarter found cover here for two continuous weeks. Around 1967 these four were rehabilitated and give you a good impression of what they were like. Worth seeing.

I just celebrated my son's bar mitzvah in the Eliyahu Hanavi synagogue. It was a deeply moving a special experience. The shul (and neighbouring Yochanan Ben Zakai) are beautiful beyond description. And painstakingly restored. When the Jordanians took over these 500 yr old treasures after...More
