This Church commemorates several significant occurrences including Jesus’ questioning and imprisonment. Also, it commemorates Peter’s denial of Jesus. Interesting but to see how Peter denied Jesus and then the dungeon where Jesus was held. We sang some hymns. So solemn.

The church has beautiful mosaics that depict Christ and St. Peter. There is a lower level, a dungeon, where one can visit the room where Christ was held and tied. It brought me to tears!

More impressive than the sanctuary is the lower level--where people kept horses and also tortured (perhaps Jesus). Outside, you could see steps where Jesus probably walked. Nice gift shop, but crowded. Do go there.

This was the last stop for the day as our tour group walked down the Mount of Olives. I understood that it was named for the place Peter denied Jesus, but I did not expect the descent into the dungeon where Jesus was held, and...More

This church was built in 1931 on the eastern slopes of Mt. Zion. It was built in remembrance of Peter's denial of Christ and repentance. Jesus predicts that "Crock's Crow" following Peter's 3rd denial. As we stood on the platform outside the church reading the...More
