The Cenacle is believed to be the site of the Last Supper, where Jesus and his disciples met to celebrate Passover. The Upper Room is known as The Cenacle. It is a beautiful room. Some dispute its authenticity, because it is built in Gothic style, which has Middle Eastern and European elements. However, The Cenacle is certainly uplifting, and gives a wonderful sense of the beginnings of Christianity. It's a highlight of Mount Zion.

Traditionally, Jesus and his Disciples are believed to have shared their Last Supper here. The Room of the Last Supper is quite large, with Gothic style architecture, which shows Middle Eastern stylistic influences. The Last Supper is thought to have been a Seder, which is the traditional Jewish Passover meal. The Room of the Last Supper will evoke mixed feelings among Christians, because soon after Jesus was taken away and crucified. The Room of the Last Supper is on Mount Zion. Mount Zion is outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, but it is also the City's highest point.

The place where the Last Supper was supposed to take place and where Mary was supposed to live after Jesus' resurrection is unfortunately nothing special - just a room with columns, although containing interesting motifs (pelicans feeding their young with their own blood). The current building dates back to the 12th century and was the work of the Crusaders. The remnant of the mosque that once existed here is the mihrab, and other interesting things here include a gilded sculpture depicting a trimmed olive tree, symbolizing the Eucharist instituted in the Cenacle by the Savior.

True enough, there is no such thing as a “bad” biblically significant site to visit in Jerusalem. Still, this place is unremarkable - a sterile, vaulted room in a former mosque. Felt nothing but the press of the crowd.
TIP: If you are pressed for time, skip this place and spend more time reflecting on the Last Supper and the stunningly beautiful mosaics in the nearby Dormition Abbey.

After going out of Zion’s Gate it is about five minutes’ walk. Reaching the place where it is supposed to have occurred the Last Supper it is a bit disappointing because you just see an empty middle age room which doesn’t make you “going back in time”. Enjoy!

Not a top priority destination but if you have time, visiting Mount Zion is worth it. An interesting area to explore, with buildings hundreds of years old - including King David's Tomb and this room of the Last Supper. It is awesome to imagine the 'Last Supper' happening here, and also the disciples gathering many times. It was crowded when we came in November 2022.

If you could imagine a room for the Last Supper this would be it. Certainly worth visiting as part of your walk around Mount Zion but probably not as a special trip. However there does not seem to be any evidence to support its authenticity.

The first stop on our old town tour, this newer church is where Jesus had his Last Supper. I just wasn’t feeling it, it was rather newish and not what I expected. It gets better as you move inside the wall - but, worth a quick look.

The Cenacle is the site of the Last Supper, where Jesus and his disciples met to celebrate Passover. It's in the Zion Gate. It' beautiful, a mix of Islam and European design. The Cenacle is truly memorable. It's an upper room.

Due to some reason Cenaculum is the only place among the Jerusalem Christian landmarks which is widely known to be not what it claims to be, namely – the true Last Supper location. Which is, actually, not fair. Via Dolorosa could not possibly be the route Christ followed when carrying His cross to Golgotha (and majority of stations are invented during the Middle Ages); the Church of Holy Sepulcher is not the actual place where He was crucified and buried; and what is now known as the Garden of Gethsemane is not the place where the corresponding Biblical events could take place. Et cetera et cetera. So why Upper Room is discriminated? All this sites are equally symbolic – and as such, should be equally respected and revered by Christians (and non-Christians either). Centuries of adoration and generations of true believers should be enough to make all these sites holy – including the Upper Room! It is not that difficult to find – took me less then 10 minutes. Exit the Zion Gate, go right forward, then turn right and follow the sign which points left – to Cenaculum (and right – to the Dormition Abbey). So find it and spend 5 minutes there, which is absolutely enough to soak in the mystical and spiritual aura of this place.
