Downtown Amman is an experience next to none, you'll experience the real traditional Middle Eastern country with authentic clothes shops, herbs, traditional restaurants (sweets like knafeh and food like falafel, homous and foul). The Roman Theatre is within walking distance as well as citadel

There are some interesting shops in Al Balad if you are a collector of coins, antiques, etc. Night life is vibrant and there are some awesome restaurants that dot the Rainbow Street, complete with music and great food.
