Wonderful to climb Mt Arafat on any day other than the proper hajj days.
It’s more convenient, relaxing and not so many crowding hajjis or persons going up and down the jabal Arafat.
I went there after ASR with my wife.
We stayed there after maghrib to see the beautiful & flickering lights.
The best speech was delivered on this mountain / Jabbal by our Prophet confirming his favor on us…On this last speech a great service & favor to mankind…Islam.

In the plains of Arafat is Mount Arafat, which is 20 km from Makkah. It is said to be 70 m in height. The mount is of granite. This is where Adam met Eve after their banishment. Visiting this place is a fundamental requirement of Hajj. To climb up to the top of the mount is a tough undertaking with steep steps cut into the hill. One gets a feeling of awe when one reaches the top. Some traders have set up shops selling beads, caps & other such stuff, spread on sheets.

During month of Zul Hajja (Hajj season), this place is so much crowded and on Day of Arafaa(9th Zul Hajja), Masjid Nimra is opened and fully packed.
I visited this place during Umrah (Ziaraat) and had a pleasant experience.

It is a mountain of great religious & historical importance and of salvation, as it is the place where Adam & Eve were reunited after they were removed from heaven for their disobedience. It is at this place that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) gave his last sermon laying down certain do’s & don’ts for all the Muslims who were present & to pass on the message to those who are yet to come. It is at this place in the plains of Arafat, pilgrims for Haj assemble & seek forgiveness of Allah for all their sins and He does not disappoint them ! Seeing such a great mercy of Allah on that particular day, Satan runs away from here with great remorse & sadness. It is a very hot & humid place & is fully occupied with pilgrims on the Arafat day. Some tents are built here on this special occasion to accommodate the pilgrims. The Saudi Government & Voluntary agencies supply water, juices & food packets to the pilgrims, as there are no shops here. Without stay here, the Haj is not complete and hence even patients who are unable to undertake the journey are brought in Ambulances and they stay here for sometime to make their Haj complete, having come from various parts of the world spending their live’s savings. The pilgrims leave Arafat, after sunset and all their sins are forgiven and washed away and they are as innocent as if they were born that day. Thus it is a great experience to be in Arafat during Haj, and the feeling cannot by expressed in words. It is a lifetime dream of every Muslim to visit this place & cherish its memory.

It was my privilege to perform Hajj twice, in November 1977 and September 1984, while working in Saudi Arabia. Hajj is a central pillar of the Islamic faith that re-enacts the actions of the Prophet Muhammad from more than 1,400 years ago. Here Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stood and delivered the Farewell Sermon to the Muslims who had accompanied him for the Hajj towards the end of his life. Standing at Arafat is the fundamental requirement of Hajj and pilgrims come here on the 9th Dhul Hijjah (second day of Hajj) and pray on the rocky hill called the Mountain of Mercy. Over 2 million pilgrims gather at the plain of Arafat till sunset standing in earnest supplication and devotion, praying for God's abundant forgiveness. Once I visited the plain of Arafat out of Hajj season where quite a good number of people were gathered, and keep coming daily, to have a closer look and better information of this sacred place. The plain becomes not only a place of prayer for people but also they spent their time in having camel rides, food, and other enjoyments. It has also been said that Arafat is where Adam and Eve knew each other after landing on earth.

Place where the prophet Muhammed stood and delivered the Farewell Sermon to the Muslims who had accompanied him for the Hajj towards the end of his life. Muslims also say that it is also the place where the Adam and Eve reunited on earth after falling from Heaven. It is the place where Adam was forgiven, hence it is also known as Jabl-ar-Rahmah (the Mount of Mercy). Must visit place for all muslims around the world. There is no hajj without Arafa. It is place where Nimrah masjid is there which opens only during Haj period
