It was nice, but actually we missed a little bit the typical Arabic atmosphere. It was ok, we expected more.

There is a brand new modern Souk in the middle of narrow streets with lots of smaller shops selling anything imaginable. The new Souk has a few nice places to eat inside it.

Nice to visit during November-April where the weather is nice and you can find all type of shops. also, there is a small mall with traditional breakfast and lunch served, I recommend Nasif over Zafran. Enjoy

I love looking through bargain shops and areas that are a little seedy - in which case I loved here. NOT an authentic souq experienece if that is what you're after (no where as nice as Souq Wakif in Doha for example). Lots of cheap/fake goods. Interesting if you like that sort of thing. A few nice coffee shops.

good mid-size souq + small indoor mall with restaurants + several small shops: similar to Deira, Dubai shopkeepers are friendly entrance gate + police station with policeman guarding with rifle over shoulder are interesting sights

Bab Al Bahrain Souq is the biggest souq in Manama and is the go-to place for tourists wanting to buy cheap homecoming gifts for friends and family. You can buy traditional Bahraini items here such as Jalabiyas (women's dresses) as well as the traditional Arabic men's garb, the Thobe. They also have stores that sell fresh Arabic spices, dates, etc.... More
