Fascinating insight into local culture

Fascinating to wander the alleyways of the souq. Interesting products for sale. The falcom souq nearby is equally fascinating with people buying and selling falcons.

Sometime it's easy to forget that Doha has a world outside the fancy new buildings and 5** hotels Well it does and you should visit the Souk to see it. It isn't a typical busy crazy souk but more of a relaxed shopping experience. We were lucky enough to get a tour on local culture and traditions which was a... More

Very clean, nice, colourfull, fragerent, interessting area for eating, shopping or just having a stroll around. Visited by tourists and locals. Take your time, grab a drink and some food on one of the many terraces and admire the architecture of the buildings. Very nice place to take kids as well. You can even stay in one of the many... Very, very cool! Expansive (yes, that's an "a"), and incredibly atmospheric. Very much has the feel of an authentic, ancient market, especially in the side alleys, not a much along the main promenade. I would focus on the handcrafting area and maybe not spend too much time in the "art" area. Many good restaurants, so look at all of the... More

You can find some very unique gifts here. I bought hand made wooden Christmas decorations for 15 riyals each and the finest Oud I have ever smelled. You can find anything your heart desires here, just ask.

We visited the Souk three times whilst in Doha for a week on hols. It's a very family friendly place. It's interesting - the Arabian horses and Hawkes give you an interesting insight into local interests, and shops such as the taxidermist, jewellers and tailors are are fascinating. It's also a great place to eat, which was the main reason... More
