Not some recreation of local village at all, but a tastefully organized area with high class restaurants and shopping. We visited at night and the family atmosphere was very nice. Pretty water fountains. Even deluxe good cart to silently wisk you bad to your ride! Great!!

It is a long trek from the souq area by taxi and pretty much whatever is there was closed. We did enjoy an expensive but good Indian lunch. There was nothing going on, nothing open, and sings/maps really unhelpful. Not worth the taxi fares to and from.

Katara is a fascinating place. It is a sight for sore eyes in the daytime, but especially beautiful when illuminated at night. Well worth the visit.

Great place to spend time in the evening, there were folklore dances, great food outlets, strolling and a lot of activities.

A tourist attraction for visiting Doha. 10 mins taxi from Hotel Intercontinental Doha or 20 mins from the City centre. 10 mins from The Pearl. You can walk along the beach and the coliseum like central place. Heaps of great photo opportunities. Don't forget to visit the Post Office and buy some local Qatar stamps. A small convenience shop within... More

Quite a chance and something to do instead of just going out to malls. They host different events throughout the year. Concerts, arts and crafts, exhibitions. Etc. and has some of the best restaurants in Qatar. Must stop here if you're visiting Doha even for just a day. Make sure you visit the Roman theater.

Visited here yesterday. It's a nice place to wander around, nothing to do really. However, the architecture is lovely. There are some food stalls but none were open. Strange considering it was the weekend. We walked along by the sea and then saw a farmers market across the road. Good selection of fruit and veg, eggs etc.

Katara is a few miles outside of Qatar, maybe a 10-20 minute drive/cab depending on traffic (which is currently bad due to major roadworks). It's a beautifully done new "old village" with a souk type feel, all very aesthetically pleasing, a number of restaurants on the coast, an amphitheater and an opera house. It's hugely popular and is right next... More
