Takiyya is a hidden gem in Damascus. I cannot stop going there ever since I first went a few months ago. Most of the shop keepers are well trained and can communicate in English. It is a brilliant place for buying fine Damascene crafts. The silver jewellery, the rugs, the mosaic are one of a kind. The art galleries are... More

A bit expensive for Syrians, yet cheap and divers for foreigners, and the handicrafts are amazing and unique. Few shops though.

A fascinating bit of old Damascus right opposite the Four Seasons Hotel. Originally a hospice with a mosque in the Ottoman style, it now has a few handicraft shops but it still exudes an air of peace and tranquillity.

it is unique in mixing old style of souk, and nature, and every thing is original. yet it needs more attention from specialized bodies, and there are many ideas to use to revive this place, like old style cafes some street musical performance, that are not resitricted to orintal modes, some street photography or quick portrait paintings, etc... it has... Simply dismiss the many store owners which are trying to get you into one of their shops and just look at the many sights in this famous souq! Don't forget to look up, as you will be amazed at the lovely architecture.

This is a great place where you can see some of the locals making items such as glass and paintings and embroidery. More relaxed than the main Souk. Dont forget to bargain hard.
