Arrived late in the evening and weren't sure if the place was still open or not. To our surprise the market was full of people, both buying stuff and simply hanging out. Authentic local atmosphere with great choice of seafood and fish of all shapes and colours, well organized and not too aggressive approaching the clients. We were able to browse around and take a close look at the trade. Friendly sellers didn't mind us taking pictures at all which was nice. Apart from various shopping malls spread around the city, that's where one can meet the locals, I guess. We followed up having dinner in Gandofly, one of the most popular restaurants in the area. Lovely experience despite of the slow(ish) service and some of the flavours we're not that familiar with. Come and see with your own eyes what Al Mina is like, your time won't be wasted!…

He then led us to a restaurant, where the fish was taken from us and a modest fee paid to have it cooked. The restaurant was basic but fine and served the fish after a short wait and provided water and a couple of other traditional dishes. All great value, super fresh and really interesting experience.…

Still intact from the traditions of the past, yet, getting into a modern stage, as we speak, with multiple projects on sight, to develop this area into a touristic one, as it is not get into that point luckily and again...yet! I have been to many, many fish markets in my life but this one is the absolute best!!! not commercial! sooo clean!!!!no fish smell at all!!! Rich and fresh products from the arabian golf still available by mass such as kingfish, tuna, baraccuda, local clams ans mussels, seabreen, seabass, squids... great to catch a fish and cook it at home but if you decide to consume on sight, the extra charges might change your mind since the restaurants aligned as a beuatiful promenade, will charge you for cooking and service, fyi. …
