Me and my sister took a tour to this old skiresort thinking it would be a fun day out, nice and relaxed. Well, we were wrong. The mountain itself is quite pretty and the view probably amazing if it's not cloudy or snowing but that...More

Overall it is a nice experience to get in contact with altitude in Bolivia. The tour brings you directly to the ski resort then the way up till the peak of the mountain is not so difficult. It deserves the views from there but be...More

So we went there with Titicaca Bolivia. The bus ride was adventurous due to the bumby road conditions but the views from the top (you can reach by walking up 100) we're spetacular. So definitely worth it.

The drive up to Chacaltaya is both picturesque and for the brave. Your drive does an amazing job traversing the steep edges. Chacaltaya is a former ski resort. Whilst its days as a skier's paradise is now over, the views from the top are still...More

We travelled with Maya tours on a 30 seater coach (about half full). There’s no beating around the bush on this one… the road up to the former ski resort is utterly terrifying. It may not be called the Death Road, but it’s certainly pretty...More

We took a bus tour here which included the moon valley. T he views were colourful and amazing. The road up is rocky and narrow in some parts, so a bit scary looking over the edge. You have to walk the final part to the...More

This is a very nice and convenient option to explore altitude up to approx 5400m.. there is no other public transport to Chacaltaya. We booked the simple standard tour with the agency Climbing South America (where we booked as well our Huayna Potosí ascent) for...More

First of all, we did this tour with Maya Tours. AVOID AT ALL COST and check with the agency you are booking your tour with if it isn't subcontracting Maya Tours, as they seem to have nearly a monopoly. We went with Maya Tours to...More

First of only do this tour if you are willing walk up a few hundred meters at high altitude. The mountain coverd in snow is beautiful, the walk up can be challenging with the altitude (but fun), and the views you get from there are...More
