Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Magical experience. The market has a rhythm and an energy that’s hard to describe and feels unique to this place. We went on a Thursday night and the only thing I might do differently next time is go with a guide who can describe the herbs and introduce us to specific vendors and products.

The Samper Mendoza marketplace, better known as the "National Herb Market", has more than 3,000 types of medicinal species, sweet, bitter, natural, aromatic, esoteric and other plants that have traditionally been used for attracting positive situations. Many visitors buy basil, cinnamon, chamomile and jasmine, which are used to attract prosperity and money.
I went there on Thursday night with a group and a special guide who knows very well the market and its surroundings. I suggest to go at nigh always with a guide, as Mondays and Thursdays are the delivery's days, and fresh herbs come from all corners of Colombia, with all their traditional knowledge stories about how to use them. This is an unforgettable experience you can have while in Bogota. You can also find fresh local food as "envueltos" or "tamales"!
