Colombia's oldest museum holds a vast collection of archeological artifacts, as well as modern art. The building itself is interesting — it's a former prison and many of the galleries are inside former prison cells.

Most the sign-age is in Spanish so its hard to know what the displays actually are. Some great exhibition spaces with lots of local history 9it is their National museum after all). Was nice to see lots of younger people actively checking it all out....More

A truly world class museum, I don't think I've ever visited a better one than this. The curation of the diverse exhibits is just perfect, so much love has gone into making this such a beautiful museum, congratulations to those involved.

We decided to check out the museum when we walked by and it didn’t let us down. Entry is only 4000 pesos, or 1.50 usd. It’s not too big, which was great for me because I tend to get bored in museums after a while....More

This former prison has been magically transformed into a special space. The collections ranging from historic artifacts to painting and sculpture are incredibly well curated Even the security guards can provide surprising insight into the art.

I was here for about 2 hours wondering the exhibits of this old jail. The setting is very nice and so are the displays. I loved the upstairs galleries.

For me it’s about the right size. Of course the museum has a huge collection. But only a few are on display.

This was a good stop, and much less crowded than Museo del Oro. It was nice to learn a bit about Colombia’s indigenous past, colonial past, and it’s present. Great spot to walk around, very reasonable entry fee, about a $4000 pesos per person. It’s...More

The collection is nice but is a mixture of things that are coming together. When you see indigenous art you expect to not see sculptures or modern things. Is like they put together what they had. The building is somehow claustrophobic, it was an old...More

This museum was an interesting blend of art, culture, and history. Especially liked the emphasis of indigenous people and the Botero collection from when he was still finding his style. They did not shy from their bloody past but tried to describe and explain it,...More

Yes, it is. Visiting on working days is preferred than going on the weekends. You can visit after 10:00 a.m. And I believe they close at 4:00 p.m.
