Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Bullfight Stadium on our bicycle tour. The building is beautiful - it seems to have Arabesque influences. And bullfighting must be popular here, since the apartment towers behind the stadium are designed to allow residents to watch the bullfights.

Sure, bullfighting takes a lot of courage, and is dramatic. But that doesn't make getting stabbed to death any more pleasant for the bull!

It seems to me as a Bullfighting Colombian Aficionado that what you had here was a bad experience. With one bad experience it is impossible for you to tell with objective criteria which is the level of bullfighting in Colombia, specifically in Bogota. Obviously Ramses and the other Spanish bullfighter have a poor level. This is done on purpose for Pablo Hermoso to look as the star of the event. If someone cheered Ramses it is because of being Colombian

Didn't get in there because it's closed by the mayor that is against the drove of bulls. I agree but it's still a very beautiful place that has to be used somehow. At least go for a pic outside!

I visited this place as part of a bike tour with Bogotravel Tours. Our guide was fernando and he explained the culture and history of bullfighting in Colombia, particularely in this place. It was very interesting and despite of the fact that bullfighting is a very controversial subject, he gave us great insight into the debate and told us how it used to be like and how it is nowadays when the bullfighting is on (we visited the sight off season).

I would not have gone here otherwise, so I was glad I was on the bike tour which covered it among many other things which was amazing (http://bogotraveltours.com/).

I loved the architectuer of the arena which is inspired by the maroccons due to the spanish colonisation over there.

I can recommend visiting this place, but make sure u have someone with u that can explain you the cultural significance and can inform you about the ongoing debate.

I went prepared to be repulsed and appalled as part of my education in making an informed decision. I came away a firm convert to a spectacular tradition carried out in stunning location.
Before you go understand what bullfighting is and go with someone knowledgeable if you can. Read death in the afternoon by Hemingway before you go as a starter.
Great atmosphere and a friendly environment although watch out for street crime outside.

If you, like us, are aficionados of los torros based on your experienc Spain. Or If you've never been and this is your first opportunity. In either case save your time and your money for your next visit to Madrid or Sevilla.

What you will see here is is almost a parody of Spanish corrida. It seems that almost half the crowd are squirting wine into their mouths out of plastic imitation goat skins and wearing cowboy hats!

The first problem is the quality of the bulls. At least 2 of the six we saw, were too poor to have been allowed into any decent corrida in Spain. We've witnessed the crowd in Sevilla demand better bulls than these be replaced!

Second problem is the quality of the local matadors. Ramsés, who we saw, was absolutely incapable of killing cleanly. Daniel Luqué (Spanish) did not too badly, given the quality of the bulls. But Pablo Hermoso (Spanish) saved the day. He was spectacular if only for his horsemanship - he also had the best of a bad bunch of bulls.

But, probably the worst thing about the whole experience was the crowd. It's not all together their fault if this is the quality they're used to, but they seemed happy to applaud and cheer everything no matter how dreadful. Even to the extent of cheering local boy Ramsés when he finally managed to dispatch his bull - on the sixth attempt!

That this review attracts two stars is only out of respect for Pablo Hermoso!

This bullfighting ring is home of many spectacles, shows, concerts, and of course bull fighting.
If you like this spanish tradition, you have to come during the special season that begins in july and ends in august.

Waling around on a Friday afternoon I passed the Plaza de Toros which was closed. I asked the security guard a few questions, and without my asking, he offered to take me inside.
For about an hour, I, and I alone had the run of the place. I went "behind the scenes" to the rooms where the bulls are kept, Saw the practice equipment, the mechanics where the deceased is removed...
This was a truly fascinating and unique experience, but don't expect the same if you visit when the Plaza de Toros esta cerado.

The building itself is worth seeing even though bull fighting is cruel. It is now also used for art fairs and events but otherwise it´s closed. When I went there I bribed a security guy with 10,000 Pesos so he would give me a privat tour. Seems to be a common practice...
