Dirty, not yet fully revitalized as a downtown area. Nothing special when compared with superior Spanish architecture in downtown Latin American cities such as Lima or Mexico

Agree with many of the other posts - this is a day visit, and even during the day you should be very careful to keep your belongings close, purses zipped, wallets in your front pocket. We went with a local guide who walked the streets with us, explained a little of the history, showed us in and out of museums.... More

The Candelaria District is a "must see" while in Bogota. We went back 2 of 3 days we were in town. Pluses -- A plethora of museums make this an important place to go. We also took a Graffiti walking tour which was an amazing way to see the area. This was our entrance to a trip up to Monserrat,... More

Doesn't matter if it's 5 pm or 7 pm when it gets dark -- be aware. It's interesting, full of tourists, and a great vibe. But you really have to be aware once night falls. I've personally known a few people who have been mugged at knifepoint out of nowhere. Locals have also told me not to take taxis after... More

We hired a driver from our hotel to take us to La Candeleria for an afternoon ... Bolivar square is a must-see for everyone, tho I had a feeling that it's not the best area for tourists to pick a hotel in. Many many old, perfectly preserved buildings, lots of colour & history. This is a must-see for a day... More

The colonial houses and the character of this neighborhood is captivating. During the walking tour we saw many different aspects of the history of the place. The churches, the restaurants, the public buildings, were all very interesting.

Beautiful colonial place. Safe for tourists, because there is a lot of police. Nice old buildings, churches, good food.

Absolutely everything you imagine when you think untouched Colonial era neighborhood. Walkways paved with river stones. Amazing clay buildings, quaint restaurants, bars, centuries old churches. Just a beautiful, historic area. A must-see if you are in Bogota. All with beautiful mountain backdrops. Stunning!
