so dirty the old town, there is not enough space for walking, tons of smog caused by the old buses, could be better but lack of maintenance and protection laws... avoid after 6pm and avoid stay there...

This is the old colonial area which gas much to offer with a large number of colonial style buildings dotted around. These range from museums to theatre and houses. Walking around gazing at the colonial buildings is an excellent way of passing the morning stopping for coffee.

The architecture in the La Candelaria district is beautiful, and very classic with a colonial twist. There are panaderías aplenty, and lots of museums and restaurants to spend your day visiting. If you are stopping in Bogotá, I would highly recommend a stop here.

Good restaurants, shopping, people watching and museums in an important historical area of Bogota. Definitely a must see area.

Walked through Candelaria while on a city tour. There is fantastic graffiti art, but otherwise not much of an old town. Compared to other well preserved historical areas in Latin America this was very disappointing. I think Bogota needs to enact strict regulations on renovations, paint color, business type, etc. before it's too late to preserve the area. Walking down... More

Visit the area where Bogota started. There are some restaurants and bars and history too. A favorite for the students in the area.

Have a look around at the colonial structures, stroll through the alleys, saunter along the septima and watch the street artists.

Shouldn't take you more than half a day to explore the area. Contrary to what others have written, it was a bit underwhelming. Place is full of security personnel and soldiers so don't need to feel too unsafe.
