Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Is not called La Magdalena, the correct name of this neighborhood is LA MACARENA. Probably if you ask a cab driver (or anyone) to take you to La Magdalena they will either give you a confused look or take you somewhere completely different.

This quirky nice neigborhood is the artist and bohemian part of the city. It have really nice cafes and restaurants and a good vibe. The only bad bit about it is its the neigorhood next to it (literally separated by one street and a Police station). La Perseverancia is kind of a dodgy place, but if you are carefull (as you should be in any big city) you will be fine.

This neighborhood in the center of the city of Bogota, is one of the most beautiful and full of history of the city, its streets show on its walls the history of the beginnings of the city and the colonial era , always take the ride day , but at night also has its charm but is a bit more dangerous.

La Macarena is a great neighborhood to explore in Bogota that's a bit more residential with upscale bars and restaurants all around. Some of the best food in this area of the city can be found among the hills of this neighborhood close by to the National Museum - it should not be missed!

My mom and I visited the Tapas cafe here a couple weeks ago and afterwards spent some time walking around the area. It feels very trendy and hip, you saw a lot of young people out and about and definitely feels local. Not many tourists. However, we didn't really see anything to do besides eat and bar hop, so after walking around for a few blocks, we turned back and got an uber out. I think if you're with friends or on a date, it's a nice spot to hang out and enjoy a good time, but didn't offer much for me.

La Macarena is a small middle class neigborhood east of Independence park and just north of La Candelaria. Further towards the north there is (working class) Perseverancia with its food market.

The area on a hill slope is popular among Bogotanos because of its location in central Bogota close to the skyscrapers in the centro internacional as well as to the historic center. If you are able to find an apartment in La Macarena it would save you a lot of travel time.

It looks like the neighborhood is developing into a service center to the well-to-do with nice restaurants and different specialized food outlets. Personally I think nearby Park Way in La Soledad is more pleasant as it is more spacious and easier to walk around as it is flat.

This is fancy old town area
Like the Candelaria but not fashion
With lot of restaurants around
Good to go and walk and choose a place to eat
The Jugueteria Macarena is a good option around

La Macarena is a great place to eat. There you will find different kind of international food. Tapas la Macarena is a very small, delicious Spanish restaurant. la Jugueteria a good restaurant for families(decoration) but the food is soso. Azimos a good Healthy food, mostly organic. Also there is Chibchombia a very good option for breakfast Colombian style. Make sure if you go during the night time to take Uber directly to the restaurant and when you finish order Uber inside and wait inside for it. I mentioned this for past personal experience. Unfortunately Bogota isn't a night city for stroll after 7pm. Enjoy the food and be safe!

A centrally located neighborhood, inhabited by local artists, musicians, film directors, La Macarena is also home to some of the better established art galleries in town; many good restaurants and cafes as well as craft shops. Many say it is one of the few neighborhoods in Bogotá that keep a local identity. You can actually feel it.

This street is really nice, with a bunch of restaurants. We had dinner in a Thai, but we also saw some Peruvian restaurants, an Argentinian, a Spanish and a Brazilian restaurant, pizza and Italian restaurants as well. It shouldn't be missed.

La Macarena is a neighborhood located in the area around Carrera 5, from about Calle 26 to Calle 32 or so, going north. The houses have been renovated and the area is known for being bohemian. There are a number of galleries and good restaurants, for example, Agave Azul, which serves excellent Mexican food.

The area is located on the side of the mountains which overlook the city, so if you have trouble walking up steep streets, I suggest coming by cab. I would also suggest not walking around late at night. The streets aren't that well lit and it's not easy to find a cab after 10pm.
