Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can't miss Jimenez, it is red bricked and snakes it's way down from the anniversary quarter into La Candelaria. It is lots of great eateries, especially in the sidexstreets leading off it near the turn off for the Botero Museum and the BBC Beerhouse.
There is a very unique fountain feature running along one side.
If you are staying in La Candelaria uiull probably find yourself on Jimenez quite a bit to-ing and fro-ing.

If you care about architecture, this is a great short walk through history of Bogota. From the San Francisco church of the 17th century to wonderful architecture of the 1950's and 1960's. Look Up!!

This is a mostly-pedestrian street that winds it way by a few small parks and plazas. I say mostly because parts are used by Transmilenio buses. The east end, by the Universidad de Los Andes, is the nicest. Los Andes is one of the best (and most expensive) universities in Colombia. At the right time of day there will be students relaxing between classes. I've seen some practicing tight-rope walking with a rope just off the ground between two trees. It's a fun scene. And just beyond is the Quinta Bolivar.

One of the nicer avenues in the city as it follows the original flow of the San Francisco river. Most colonial buildings along the avenue have been replaced by more modern structures and the river has been encapsulated in concrete, but trees have been planted along parts of the avenue especially towards the east. Moreover space for pedestrians and public transportation has been given priority here.
Now to walk beyond the Parque de los Periodistas is not safe, even though I observed a lot of police. I hope in the future it will be possible to walk all the way up into the mountains again along the San Francisco nature trail.

The hotel is very uncomfortable. Breakfast is extremely poor. The rooms are not clean and it’s so noisy in the room, sleeping after 4:00 am is nearly impossible because of early traffic. The windows are far away from noise isolation. Quality-price ratio is very bad and lastly be careful about transfers and any kind of transport they organize. They charge double, triple. Not to recommend at all.

Excuses, and more excuses from management about fixing the heaters... no elevator on a 5 story building, very narrow stairs... loud location, people shouting on the streets on the middle of th enight.

Avenida Jiménez is a short distance from the gold museum and offers an interesting array of elements of what makes Bogota unique in one place. At one end of the Avenue is the Quinta de Bolivar, an important landmark in the history of the country, moving away from the mountains following the pedestrian walkway called paseo ecológico, there is the parque de los periodistas and a mix of modern and colonial architecture. Nice restaurants, coffee places and important landmarks like the San Francisco church and the Banco de la República. There is a transmilenio station called Museo del Oro, which connects to the larger station down hill in San Victorino. There are lots of people here and lots of shops, offices and attractions. Very little to see and do for a tourist beyond the San Francisco church and I wouldn’t recommend going walking towards San Victorino. On a sunny day and especially on Sundays it is a great walk, get some ice cream and enjoy!

It is an iconic street at Bogota´s downtown, you will get a taste of the local culture surrounded by an interesting mixture of ancient architecture, souvenir stores, restaurants and the oldest bowling local of the city. Better if you walk with a professional tour guide.

If you visit Bogotá, this walk is mandatory.
In the center of Bogotá we find this avenue. Walking it is phenomenal. a little of everything. But local culture flourishes everywhere. There is something for everyone.
