Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in this neighborhood and really enjoyed the bustle and activity. At night it is very quiet, but during the day it is active. There are dozens of good restaurants ranging from budget to fine dining. I felt safe walking around during the day.

The choices are endless in this northern section of town east of el Chapinero, north of la Macarena and south of Usaquen, also known as Rosales, and close to zona T (or zona Rosa), roughly between calle 69 to 72, between carrera 5 and 7. Some reviewers mentioned challenges with parking: first, we walk; second, there are valet parking and parqueaderos, if you must drive.
- High end with celebrity chef status: Harry Sasson (eponymous), Criterion (the Rausch brothers), and Astrid y Gaston (Gaston Acurio of the globalized Peruvian franchise "la Mar" fame that started in Miraflores, Lima)
- Molecular gastronomy: El Cielo (may be with the closing of El Bulli, now a bit passe, but still worthwhile if you are into degustation menu)
- modern Peruvian: Rafael (stunning facade, must check out: where is the door/name?)
- Spanish: la Penela (specializing in Galician cuisine, perfect for Bogotan climate!)
- French: la table de Michel (don't be put off by the exterior), la Cigale (more bistro ambience)
- steak house: La Biferia, El Butcher, Mr Ribs (aka Tony Roma's)
- Middleeastern: El Arabe (some dishes are overpriced)
Our favorite along carrera Septima is Buenas Migas for breakfast and pastries, Diana Garcia for a delicious lunch (not inexpensive), and Fruto Colonial (at the ground level but the back of Rosales Plaza hotel) for healthy juices and excellent coffee. Oudi, the French owner, will welcome you like an old friend. Cooper Lounge Bar at Hotel Artisan DC next door is arguably the hippest spot for cocktail.
GreenMix north of JW Marriott hotel is best to try out distinctive smoothies like maracuya (passion fruit), guanabana (soursop) and lulo (known as naranjilla = small oranges, very tart, in central America). There is a bakery with natural ingredients at the back of Gastronomy market (across from the bigger chain supermarket Carulla, on calle 72 and carrera 5), offering cozy seating in a greenhouse setting.
Suna, Home Burgers and Crepes & Waffles on carrera 5 are popular with locals. Of course there are Juan Valdez and Bogota Brewing Co (BBC) as well.
There are some Italian and Japanese restaurants if you must along calle 71 and 71 a between carrera 5 and 7. WOK on carrera 9 and calle 69a (different than Wok to Walk) is a fun experience for a localized version of pan Asian dishes if you don't mind the often long lines (but it tends to move tables fast).
Restaurante Daniel, although technically located in an up and coming enclave known as Quinta Camacho (calle 73 and carrera 9, between the Hilton and CC Ave Chile shopping mall) is worth a mention for its slow cooking (coccion lenta).
For a taste of traditional fares like ajiaco and bandejas paisa, I am not aware of any in Zona G: head to Club Colombia in Zona T, or if you don't mind touristy ambience, Puerta de la Catedral off Plaza Bolivar (just a few doors from la Puerta Falsa, which is usually packed as it is more famous for its chocolate santaferreno).

Probably the richest area of the city, where you will find two big shopping centers, a multitude of restaurants for all tastes and budgets, countless shops for shopping and so many people around. My advice is to visit this place in the evening, where the true "nightlife" of the city comes alive. You don’t want to missed this place!

We were staying close by (Chapinero) and tried some of these restaurants. More expensive than the average fare, but some good food and you should fine whatever you want.

The Zona G is the place to go for fine dining and is know in all of Bogota. All the renown and up and coming chefs have their restaurant there. The selection is wide and you will find just about every type of food to pick from. Parking is hard so take taxi or just use valet parking. Traffic is also hard at key hours of the day so plan ahead.. If you visit Bogota, this is the sector to visit. Enjoy.

This is a place for dinner and drinks, not particularly a party area. There are lots of restaurants with different cuisines. I will briefly describe a few of them.
Kong: Great food, great ambience, great restaurant, good service. It specializes in asian fusion cuisine, so you can find your noodles with pork in a fusion sauce. Be very hungry because portions are large. I am not a cocktail man but friends say that cocktails are excellent. Place is not very big and gets busy so if you go friday make sure to have a reservation.
Mister Ribs: As the name states ribs (pork ribs) are great. Service is good. There is a platter of entrees worth be trying. Steak is also good. It is one of my favorite places to go to in the weekends and I normally go for the full rack of ribs with french fries (fried in bull fat I think because they are so crispy), or half rack of ribs and a steak. Totally recommended.
Sagal: A steak house. They serve matured steaks although they do not really specify the days of maturing they use. Anyhow steak is good. I normally order the ribeye or the entrecôte, both are good. The only issue here is that the term is a hit or miss according to whoever is grilling. In my experience, sometimes steak is perfect, but some other times is not what you order and you have to go through the annoyance of sending it back. They are also not very good at handling large orders. If you are more than 10 people they could really make a big mess of the order... But in general they are more good than bad and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food.
El Corral and Hamburgueseria: Both serve really overpriced burguers. I am not saying those aren't good burguers, as they really are, but a burguer here can cost more than a steak in Sagal or half a rack of ribs in Mr. Ribs which is ridiculous, as we all know that the price of minced meat is really low, compared with good quality steak.
El Arabe: overpriced, terrible service, nor very good food. They charge about 26.000 COP for a plate of rice and lentils!!! need I say more? Is rice and lentils and arab food? mmm the things you get to learn in Bogota.

I like some of the restaurants in the Zona G, and if I had all of the money in the world, I might go there more often.
Simply put, the majority of the spots are a terrible value. It is not necessary to spend that much money for good food in Bogota.
Some of the good food redeems it from a one star rating, including Harry's Bar and Alice's.
Overall, I would suggest Usaquen or Parque 93 before the Zona G.

Plenty of nice food options here, a bit pricey though for Bogota. Nice walking in area, so get some exercise. Americans with USD will think good value for big city, so you can slurge by Bogota standards if money not so much concern.
3,300 COP vs. USD at time of review.
