Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Both branches were free, so you can't complain. Both are in old converted houses, and contain a hodgepodge of history and maybe art. One location had a modern photography exhibition. I really like how they modernized the venues and still kept the olders building's charm and character.
As it's a city museum, most of the themes and displays relate to everyday life. Domestic life, home cooking, cinema, consumer products, hygiene, infrastructure, some artworks.
It's fairly central in the Candelaris district, and worth a visit.

The new remodeled Bogota museum is located on Calle 10 in a historic building known as the House with the Seven Balconies. A very nice place for the collection that contains a bit of everything. It is set up around different 'capsules'. There is one about the history of film in Bogota with a small room where old movies are shown. Another one about the canalization of a river with a short film as well. What struck me most was the overview of the different Spanish expeditions during the first part of the 16th century. So many people did not survive.

The museum has another location where temporary exhibits are shown in Casa Samano. At the moment they have an interesting collection of photos (mainly of objects with architectural importance).

Major drawback for foreigners without knowledge of Spanish: it is difficult to understand the information, as most of it is in Spanish. Another problem I faced at first visit was they wanted my passport as a deposit to guarantee I would bring back a 1€ key of a locker. I refused and left. The second time they had adjusted their policy and a bus card was sufficient, but perhaps it is wise to bring a copy of your ID. Staff is friendly.

This is a cute little museum that has changing exhibits. What was there today was not there when I visited three years ago. The current display was photography. This is just around the corner from the Botero Museum but doesn't appear to get many visitors. But if you are at the Botero it is probably worth taking a few minutes to come up here, too. Even if the current exhibits aren't interesting the building has a very attractive little patio in the front and a very quiet and secluded garden in the back. It's a good place to step back from the city noise for a few minutes. There are also some good views of the street from the second floor windows.

There was a photographic exhibition about Colombia's coffee culture which I liked a lot. The entrance was free and I liked the location a lot, even though it is quite small. So, if you are strolling around in Candelaria anyways, it is definitely worth a visit!

Hard to tell what this is all about. Some pieces are confronting, some interesting and obviously a modern history of Bogotá.

Ok museum, they charge a small entrance fee (2019 € 1.20). On Sundays this museum is free of charge as are all the museums in Bogota for which you have to pay an entrance fee.

Museo de Bogota is a tiny Museum, very close to Banco de la Republica Art Collection and the Luis Angel Arango Public Library in Bogota. Besides temporary exhibitions, they hold free events as: city walks about the city buildings history and architecture, movie's screening, talks about the city. They will be soon opening their permanent exhibition hall located in a colonial house, just around the corner.

I really liked the atmosphere at this museum and it is free. Great historical photos of old Bogotá during various periods including the 1938 anniversary.
