Sunday evening walking

Visiting the garden after 40years, very poorly kept. Garbage every way and street vender along walking passages. Need to maintain properly.

Considering there aren't many parks of this nature it is relatively good. Large open spaces for picnic, or other family activities, visit historical sites (few), enjoy the sounds of the fauna and sites of the Flora around you. Additionally it is very accessible, cheap, has a variety of vendors to provide a Guyanese treats and trinkets, and is neighbouring the... More

This was a little well-kept park. There were places to sit and relax and walk around. The zoo was only a small part of the park. There was ample places to walk, but unfortunately people warned me against walking in places where you did not see people. The word has it that some people up to no good could rob... More

This must have been a lovely garden in its day. Now much of it has been allowed to become wilder, but this adds to the interest to us. We went birding, early - 06.00 or so on three mornings of our trip. Wonderful for many different birds, especially some of the larger parrots - Festive Parrot, Red shouldered Macaw, Orange... More

It is worth getting up early to visit the gardens for bird watching. We arrived at 6am and spotting many bird species including hawks and parrots, it was a very enjoyable couple of hours spotting the exotic birds. If you have any interest in bird watching I would recommend it!

This facility has been neglected. Used to be very beautiful, Has the Zoo, but this also is neglected. Nice surroundings but limited animals in poor condition. The garden is large and the burial place for Linden Forbes Burnham. There is a manatee pond that has the occasional mammal. Worth a visit if you have nothing else to do

The zoo was worth a visit thanks to the different birds species. The leopards and tigers though were put into too small cages and it was sad to see - poor animals. The Botanical Gardens themselves seemed to be under construction. Not all pathways mentioned on the map were built yet.

the best time to go is right when it opens at 6 am, for many reasons: it's the coolest time, the birds are the most active, safest time, least crowded. (Note this is just for the birds; the "zoo" part doesn't open until 9:30am). At first you may think there are not many birds, but be patient and observant and... More

We visited the Botanical Gardens on a hot Day. When is it not hot here. The gardens are well presented and the trees are now tagged with botanical info. A manate pond is in the Garden and we watched them eat the pond grass. They were only feet away. Awesome. Well worth to visit. Recommended.
