A little tiny island you can take a quick 5 minutes boat trip from Anse Vata. It is a convenient beach for easy snorkeling (close to the waters edge) or just relaxing on the beach in a city. Not spectacular site but it's convenient. Enjoy local artists' arts around the island. Restaurant, bar, beach beds, parasols and toilets are available.... More

Duck Island is a small island just off the shore of Noumea. It's easily accessible by glass bottom boat (great for looking at the abundant underwater life as you arrive at the island). The island is charming, with decorative local artworks all around, a pleasant sandy beach (with deck chairs for hire) and swimming and snorkelling. I had a delightful... More

Had a fantastic ride on the Zodiak, followed by great snorkeling on a secluded island. Our guide didn't know much about local history as he wasn't from Noumea but he, along with the other workers, was very hospitable. I'd go there again :D

We hadn't heard anyone talk up this day trip island visit so nearly didn't go. Mid afternoon on the last day of our holiday, we asked the hotel to phone for the water taxi. If only we'd gone earlier in the day to have lunch and the time to wander more. The snorkeling was superb....on par with experiences in Fiji... More

I’d done some research and had pre-purchased some Pacific French Francs (XPF) – 5,000 for $A70, and was ready to walk into town and catch the 10 or 11 local bus for about 200XPF each way. However it proved to be much more convenient to get a combo Hop-on/hop-off bus and water taxi ticket from the visitor’s centre right where... More

If you want to go snorkelling in New Caledonia with minimum effort, this is a great place. From Anse Vata beach it's a 5 minute boat ride to the island (you'll need to specify your return time when you buy tickets), and once you arrive everything is provided (for a cost, though I didn't find the prices too outrageous) -... My husband and I had a lovely day out snorkeling and having lunch. The areas to sit and lounge around are very attractive in the European style. Cabanas and private areas are sectioned of with canopies, plus the bar serving authentic mojitos. Food was pretty good as well.... will go back! 😍

We had such a wonderful day at Duck Island when visiting Noumea on The Voyager Of The Seas. The water was a beautiful blue and there were lots of beautiful fish and coral to see. We also saw large turtles which were beautiful to see in their natural habitat! Food and snorkel gear are very expensive so bring your own.... More

It's a short boat trip out on the yellow taxi boat or the glass floor boat. You can spend the day their but actually you probably only four hours snorkelling is perfect here and they hire all the gear on the island. There is nothing to do but swim lay on the Beach and snorkel. Enjoy!
