This was a very interesting visit. The building is very well put together with fantastic story within the architecture. This is a must do. There is a cost but the money appears to be going to good use within the complex.

This centre has the most spectacular architecture, is in lush bush and tells the story of the island's indigenous people in a simple and special way. A must do.

We visited in early January and expected the center to be buzzing; however, very few staff were around and the exhibitions were lacking. The center is a wonderful piece of architecture and honours the Kanak people and their culture. The main building had some interesting pieces of art and historical information, mostly in French. The traditional huts were great to... More

Great place to see the history and fantastic views of the ocean and hills. Loved the design and the exhibitions taking you through the how, and why. Excellent

Interesting and very informative on the culture, history and politics of New Caledonia. Worth a visit. Would be more useful if more information was presented in English as well as in French, also needed more information on the walks. The buildings were stunning but the exhibits appeared a bit light on. Perhaps if more information was in English we may... More

We went to this cultural center early in January and it had the feeling of a school that had let out for the holidays, Deserted and lots of the rooms locked or empty. The one interesting display was something that had shown near our home town in 2014! However the traditional Kanak houses outside are really amazing and definitely worth... More

Tijboau Culterel Centre is an architectural gem. It could not be more appropriate and fits into the environment magnificently. I always visit here every time I come to Nouméa for some French immersion and the beaches. There are often fabulous exhibitions to view as a bonus. Take the #40 bus from bus depot (Port Moselle) for 210 each way for... More

I took a tour to the cultural centre and I learned so much about the Kanak culture. The centre is a great represenatation of their lives and what they do. There are great displays inside the 10 buildings to learn more about New Caledonia. I saw the Bottled Ocean 2116 exhibition and it was pretty amazing. The exhibitions change on... More

Took a private shuttle from the Ship's Terminal with Lyvai tour, a variety of packages which are much cheaper on the shore. I had 2 hours of fun and cultural experience. What a great pleasure to understand Melanesian culture from our very talented tour guide Georgy who happens to be a chief from the small loyalty island of Lifou. Once... More
