We went here with a guide... I found it pretty meh. Maybe because it was just like museums at home. A lot of it was just like Moari culture. And half of it was Australia which was boring.

Since we had a rental car during our family vacation in Noumea we felt very fortunate that we were able to venture out and visit this amazing cultural centre. As we travelled through the exhibits we began to realize that we were in a special place and were being introduced to a very unique culture. Everyone in our group, from... More

Well presented venue which showcases local Kanak and Melanesian culture. Found the local souvenir shop quite good as was the local cafeteria which served a mix of foods at reasonable prices. This centre also offers great views to the sea as well as the outdoor exhibits of the Kanak tribal houses are indeed interesting. Transport can be easily done by... More

we landed from lifou and we directly went to visit the centre as the bus 40 is ending just in front of the entrance and then it brings you back to downtown. well, the architecture is impressive, very fascinating and in harmony with the surroundings. just we wish there more temporary exhibition ongoing and the reconstruction of the kanak village... We caught the local bus on a rainy day and enjoyed a lovely couple of hours discovering the history of Noumea and enjoying the significance of Renzo Piano's project.

We visited the Tjibaou Cultural Centre on a very hot day in January.. the thermometer was hitting 40 degree celsius. Walking down the Centre's corridors was refreshing with a cool sea breeze blowing. Walk to the end and onto the lawn to get a brilliant view of the 10 Indigenous inspired architecture. Some great displays to see in some of... More

Kanak (Menasian etc.) cultural centre founded by Tjibaou, an indigenous leader dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the land by the islands' original peoples. Most of the displays are concerned with the local politics of New Caledonia and surrounding islands; being the mix of cultures and attitudes since French occupation. Great wood sculpture exhibition and some modern art; all... More

Very intersting local art and history of the latest new caledonia décades. The architecture is melt in to the nature, and links directly with the history of the island since 1998. A must see !

This was a very interesting visit. The building is very well put together with fantastic story within the architecture. This is a must do. There is a cost but the money appears to be going to good use within the complex.

This centre has the most spectacular architecture, is in lush bush and tells the story of the island's indigenous people in a simple and special way. A must do.
