This is a particularly well laid out museum with a maritime theme. We were in a group and employed the services of a guide but it is possible to go around without a guide. There is a lot about old ships, navigators etc.

We had an interesting afternoon spent at the museum with 20 students from Australia. The La Perouse exhibition and Amedee lighthouse light were particularly memorable.

We visited here after it was recommended by a friend. Fascinating look into the history of New Caledonia. Great exhibit on La Perouse and Cook. Much of the information has English translations. Well worth a visit. Nominal fee $5 AU.

This is a great little museum which provided information on the great European navigators looking for the great southern continent. Naturally, there is a bias toward the French naval explorers, and the connectedness and good will they showed explorers from other parts of Europe. I...More
