Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I stayed at The Strand Hotel for 3 nights during our recent holiday in Yangon. We walked along The Strand Road each day, to get to various tourist attractions and restaurants.

This road is very noisy with non stop traffic and drivers blowing their horns for no particular reason. Air pollution is awful. The road is always dusty and dirty.

We shared the standard high tea, it was enough for a quick afternoon tea. The hotel is a lovely example of colonial splender, the staff are extremely helpful and the food was delicious ... we wished we'd had more time to spend there...

I visited the Strand, mainly to mail postcards at the Post Office. It is certainly a history lesson...., a reminder of the British colonial days with its impressive architecture. The Strand Hotel is quite a place, worth stopping in for a drink.

Didn't particularly fancy walking much here as it is so busy, noisy and dirty in parts, but it was good to experience and there are some impressive buildings - can imagine a transformation in years to come.

The Strand Road is certainly part of a bygone era- 72 years bygone, actually, as the day I was there was the 72nd Independence Day. Not that you'd have particularly known it. It just looked like what it is - a busy harbourside thoroughfare. However, the old buildings are of so much interest and beautiful architectural and decorative detail, so it's well worth slowing down in the heat of the day to make a slow progress to noticw them. Many of them have been/are being restored and they have blue plaques to tell you what they were. It's fun comparing their original finctions with their new incarnations. The Strand Hotel does a fabulous high tea, if you're in need of sustenance.

Stopped here for a cocktail and to imagine what it would have been like to be the wealthy aristocrat in colonial times. Beautiful building all redone inside. Fantastic cocktails and not bad price when you consider what a place like this would charge at home. Spoil yourself for a least one drink.

We walked along Strand Road when we went to visit the Boatataung Pagoda. Early in the morning (before sunrise), the road was quiet and the breeze nice and cool. Along the way you can see remnants of majestic colonial and early post-colonial architecture. Having said that, my daughter seemed more interested in the small roadside stalls where lovely fresh crispy snacks were being prepared and sold. On this walk, at whatever time of day, it is easy to pop into The Strand Hotel for refreshments. Definitely worth an early-morning stroll if you have the time.

You will pass by during a short sight-seeing tour through Yangon anyways. But that´s it. To stroll around doesn't make sense. You find almost none interesting buildings or beautiful scenery.
