I didn't have much experience with Burmese food before visiting Myanmar so I was really excited to go on this tour. Chit is an outstanding guide. He's articulate, engaging, and has a great energy about him. It made the 4 hours go by quickly.
Aside from taking me to some very good restaurants and street food stalls, he took me to a few local spots as well like the 24-hr fish market and Yangon circular train. I particularly enjoyed the fish market as it showed me an authentic side of Yangon that I otherwise wouldn't have found on my own.
I love finding the best examples of local food when I travel so I do a lot of research before a trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find that two of the places I had read about were part of Chit's tour, including a famous seafood restaurant featured by the late Anthony Bourdain in the premiere episode of Parts Unknown. Chit ordered the most amazing soft shell crab curry there that was the highlight of our tour. It was so good!

We met Matthew our food guide in the park. What a great guy, charming, polite, funny and full of great info about Yangon and Myanmar (Burma). Not only the food but history as well - he was full of knowledge and spoke perfect English.
We sampled all manner of delicious foods during the easy walk through various parts of Yangon city. Completey safe and very friendly areas. From Burmese to Indian to Chinese foods and finishing up in a street full of bars with street seating and barbequed food. I, my partner and my mother both enjoyed the tour massively - Thank you Matthew!
If you do just one thing on your visit to Yangon then make sure it's this Yangon food tour!

Mathew is such a kind and caring guy! He makes sure you are 100% happy with the tour! You get to explore all over the city tasting Chinese and Indian influenced foods, but also foods that are purely Burmese. The finish is one of the best as your last stop will be for some BBQ and beer along one of the busiest streets in the city! Tightly packed and pure fun!

We arrived in Yangon the same day as our food tour at 10am and met our guide Zo at 4pm in an easy to find location and from the very start the conversation flowed. Zo is kind, light hearted and knowledgeable. He had impeccable English ( for anyone who is worried) and immediately personalised the tour to us based on how hungry we were, whether we were up to walking for the total tour ( he offered taxis if not) and how hungry we were. Because we were full of plane food he made sure the big ‘showstopper’ dishes, like a whole tilapia barbecued with herbs was one of the first stops. As he found out we were very familiar with Indian food he changed up the Indian inspired dishes we tried, and because I mentioned I loved dragon fruit he bought some for our last stop. The tour was perfectly planned and throughout the time we spent with him he told us MUCH MUCH more than just the food history of Myanmar. He took us to a Taoist temple we walked past that caught our eye and showed us one of the prayers people do there, and he taught us about how the city divided up and how it has grown. The man is an encyclopaedia of knowledge!
The food tour showed us the routes of Indian, Chinese and colonial influence on local food and wherever we went he knew exactly what to pick and most importantly what not to pick! He tested food for freshness and everything was ‘western safe’ without sacrificing any authenticity.
Initially when we booked we saw no reviews but we took a chance and it paid off 1000 times over. Can’t recommend this tour (and Zo!!) enough. As mega foodies he ticked all of the boxes and the tour set us up for the next few days with a layout of the city and spots we went back to lots! Our highlights were the gulab jamun (better than in India), the Chinese duck soup, and the Shan noodles which we didn’t find better of on our trip.
We must have eaten 12-14 dishes and we were so full at the end after 4 hours!
If you have any doubts after reading this, ignore them. You will not be disappointed!

It was the best of our food tours in Asia. 4 hours off super delicious food, snacks and interesting informations. Our tour guide was very nice. He showed us the city center and explained us many things. But the best were really the food!!!! At the end there was a stop with some beers. Great idea. Thank you for this nice day / eve!

As any other country, we started with a food tour! I've always preferred local street food than fancy restaurants --- but of course, being my first day, I didn't know where to go . The food chocies in this tour is really good. some of them we have in the Philippines or I tasted during my trip in India but then despite that---- our guide Matthew knew where to take us where it's best.
We had around 10 tastings and we were full at the end but we got to see the city center, little india, little china and we tasted the most amazing food. Matthew kept asking us if we wanted more---honestly I wanted a lot more but then I had to pace myself.
I loved the shan noodles and the samosas the most!
Must try in yangon

Amazing food tour, got the chance to try a lot of new foods. My guide was very friendly and took his time with me. Also a big compliment to the organizer: I booked over GetYourGuide and I couldn't attend the original date, due food poison. They offered me to attend another day (and it was a solo tour as nobody else booked) even if by GetYourGuide policy it was a non refundable booking.
100% the right choice if you want to do a food tour in Yangon.

Relaxed amble around Yangon sampling many of the different dishes and cuisines on offer. Finished up in the infamous 19th Street for beer and kebabs 😃
I would recommend having a late breakfast or brunch as the tour starts @ 4pm and I was struggling to eat everything
My guide Matthew was lovely, interesting to talk to and his English was really good.
