By the time I was there they reconstructed the whole pagoda. So there was not much to see. The pagoda contains a hair relict from Buddha and it was a nice atmosphere there on New Years Day.

The Botahtaung Pagoda is in downtown Yangon, after the colonial Strand hotel by the river. It houses Buddha's hair as its relic and is considered one of the most sacred in Yangon. Unfortunately the golden stupa is under renovation now, so it's covered. Best I...More

A very holy place, just behind the river frontage. Shortly to have it's vane replaced as the refurbishment of all the gold covering is nearly completed. Visit the relics and artefacts with people paying their respects

I truly enjoyed going to the Botatoung Pagoda. It's small in scope than the Shwedagon Pagoda but seemed far more spread out and also less congested. There's a fascinating pond in the center with huge catfish and turtles - well worth seeing! Entry fee of...More

Behind this great Pagoda is the Botahtaung Harbour and Botahtaung Jetty. Few foreign visitors knows about the 'Storm of Seagulls' here. A causal walk from the Pagoda, visitors would be charm by thousand of seagulls there. Quite a fantastic scene, especially for photography.

It's nice inside, you have to go barefoot inside the Pagoda. Entrance Fee is 6,000kyat, they will give you free water and free wet tissue to wipe your feet when you go out. You can also see the Bhudda donated by Queen Elizabeth of England..

Some restriction on female workship in some temple ground. Lots of treasures but poorly displayed. Human traffic flow orderly. Very nice golden chambers. Good to have a guide to explain the treasures on display. Need to dress appropriately and some restrictions on cameras

It was really nice to visit this pagoda. You can buy the set of things to worship the god in front of the Pagoda (like coconut, banana, flowers etc) to worship the god and make a wish.

It's a nice small pagoda. At the time we were there they were renovating. The outside was not that beautiful because of the renovation. But the items that are usually on top of the pagoda, were actually in the pagoda due to the renovation. It's...More
