The reclining Buddha is under restoration. But you can still experience the great architecture. Look at the photo and you can see the amount of efforts put in to make this place great again.

Should you see it? Yes. But be prepared for a lot of glitter. This Buddha is a more recent version of one whose b/w photo you can see near the current Buddha's head.(The previous one collapsed). It was outdoors and had a rather scary face....More

Unfortunately for us the Chaukhtatgyi Buddha was covered in scaffolding and was being restored. However it was nice to look around and imagine what it would look like when finished.

This spot was another place we visited near Yangon. The reclining Buddha statue was the center of attention, but don't forget about all the side attractions as well. They include the numerous smaller Buddha statues and shrines plus painting of Buddha's life in the facility.

... even though the Buddha was covered in Bamboo scaffold, and therefore not really much of a view, it was still worth a visit as the local people are so proud of it. However, if I were you I'd double check to make sure renovations...More

Although the Buddha was under maintenance when I was there but I still could see the peaceful face and many people were there to pay.

this is a really cool budda without entrance fee and with plenty of life happening around it. However it is under restoration and totally covered with bamboo scaffolding.

The reclining Buddha is nice but not more ... For the moment there are cleaning works going on. Therefore the statue is surrounded by a bamboo construction, which is quite interesting.

At the moment the Buddha is being renovated and, no doubt, will look more impressive when complete. That said it’s nowhere near as striking as it’s Bangkok namesake and it looks like it’s just been dumped in a large shed. It is free though, so...More

I would say the visit needs 1 hour at most. It is a small place and it really depends on how much time you will take for photos and looking around. We had a guide for the day but it takes around 20-30 minutes from down town... More
