Visiting Mtskheta combined with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and jvari monastery was a great experience and a perfect day tour. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994 and well preserved and maintained. One of the oldest cities of Georgia, it is located approximately 20 kilometers north of Tbilisi, we paid about 30 $ each for a privet tour and visit... More

Mtskheta city reserves combined with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and jvari monastery is one hell of experience. Not very far from Tbilisi, you pay around 50-60 GEL for round trip. But this takes you into a parallel universe, where you see idyllic homes, quite but strong presence of religion and breath taking views. At Jvari, when you see the Mtskheta city below,... More

A little "village" -read tourist attraction- around a very interesting cathedral. The priest inside will pose for a picture. Do try the edible wax encased fruit and nut strips - the first bite is weird, but it grows on you. If the weather is nice, go up to Jvari also.

We took a half day tour to this place which is not far from Tbilisi city. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and well preserved and maintained. One of the oldest cities of Georgia, it is located approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of Tbilisi at the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers.

At first it is not so far from Tbilisi. By taxi it approx. takes 25-30 minutes. Of course taxi drivers will try to get more money for this journey, but do not pay no more than 35-40 lari (gel) to round-trip. From Mtskheta church yo will get wonderful view of city. The city is very beautiful and have amazing places.
