Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This (I heard private) National Gallery on Rustaveli 11 is an absolute rip-off: 25 lari for THREE rooms. I couldn't believe it, so I asked the cashier, who confirmed that it was indeed only three rooms .... One is dedicated to around 10 paintings by Pirosmanoshvili.

We were disappointed! For 21€ (we were 2 adults and 1 kid) we’ve seen 3 small halls with around 70 pictures. Two halls were closed, but nobody informed us about that in advance. The personnel of the museum was very unfriendly.
Fazit: there is nothing to see and you don’t feel very welcomed here

There’re roughly 13 paintings of Niko Pirosmani’s artworks, that gallery hasn’t offered much to see without it!
Btw, a woman guild works on the first floor was ignoring customer, such as I asked her what’s these sculptures made of? She replied:”No English”.
Then I used google translation to ask, she said:”No”? Again?
I’m wondering why is she working in here without answering basic questions? Meanwhile, she was chatting and typing her personal phone for quite a while!
What’s the value for my ticket 25 Lari?

I was upset. I was here 7 years ago and really wanted to see the exhibition again. I couldn't find most of the works. Employees cannot answer most questions. We found out with difficulty that many paintings are simply not exhibited now. They answer reluctantly and impolitely. And the price is high -25GEL per visitor. Ashamed.

Thanks to my cultural Russian GF, when we travelled to Tbilisi and Georgia we also visited the National Gallery on Rustavili Ave. The motivation was to see the paintings of Pirosmani. It was definitely worth it. His life story was made into a Drama movie (1969). As a national figure of Georgia. The other areas in the Museum are definitely worth visiting too.

The gallery was open on one floor during my visit (although after renovations the other floor is opening 9.Nov.24). The main floor was largely dedicated to Pirosmani with some really beautiful pieces on display.

With his characteristic style of naive primitivism. Pirosmani's paintings feature bold colours depicting a childlike perspective. The simplicity of his paintings convey strong emotions and a connection to nature and everyday life. His works being a reason in and of itself to visit the gallery. If the opportunity presents when in Tbilisi, well worth a look.

We were lucky to have seen the exhibition “Bernini’s School and Roman Baroque” at the Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery. It showcased the masterpieces of Bernini and other Italian masters of XVII century from the Roman Baroque Museum near Rome, “Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia“. It was overwhelmingly beautiful.

Visited this small museum to check out some georgian art. Sadly it only has a limited collection of locals, the whole ground floor being taken up by temporary collections (in our case some italian modern art and some renaissance sketches). Overall nice if you are into art but for the general public i would recommend the much larger National Museum which has a lot more to see for the same 7 lari entrance fee

This is the only place to see original Pirosmani in Tbilisi. There are other artworks and they very often have temporary exhibitions on the ground floor, but it's worth the 7 lari entrance fee just to visit the room full of Pirosmani originals. You can see more Pirosmani at his house museum in Sighnaghi.

I stumbled upon this small gallery while walking through the 9th of April Park in late November 2017. The entire gallery is on the second floor and features a well-curated collection of three Georgian artists: Pirosmani, Gudiashvili & Kakabadze. This is a wonderful place to spend an hour or so learning about 20th & early 21st-century Georgian art. The price of admission is seven (7) Lari/ (one (1) Lari for students). There is also a shop on the main floor of the gallery with a fairly limited selection; there also appears to be a café on the second floor, although it wasn’t open when I visited.
