Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our guide ‘K’ was excellent! He picked my friend and I up promptly at our hotel at 8am for a private tour. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He took us to the front of the line at the DMZ so we were able to see everything before the other tour groups came to the area. We had plenty of time to take in the sights before crowds showed up. He took us to a restaurant to eat ‘army stew’ for lunch which was delicious.
We went to the suspension bridge which was beautiful. We expressed an interest in going to the N Seoul tower so he offered to take us but since it was around 5pm when we got back into town we were pretty exhausted. We decided we would do this another day. We would definitely book with ‘K’ again!

My partner and I used Koridoor Tours to do the DMZ tour. This was around 70,000 WON each. It was an early start (7am pick up) and we arrived at 8am and it was very busy, meaning we had to wait until around 1pm for the tour to start. However in the time in between, we were able to check out some of the memorials, learn some facts about the Korean War with our tour guide, and also take the cable car ride closer to the border with NK. This allowed for some brilliant pictures.
When the tour started at 1pm, we explored the third infiltration tunnel which is deep underground (be wary if you are claustrophobic like me!). On the way there, there are military bases, vehicles and tanks, barbed wire all around and the roads are barren, making it a really eerie experience. The best part of the tour was going to the observatory and seeing into NK, looking at their flag pole, propaganda town and seeing the mountains of NK through binoculars. This was truly amazing!
Remember - bring your passport, as this is needed for the military checkpoint. Also recommend bringing plenty of food and drink as the day is long. There are some food shops but they’re a little expensive.
At no point did we ever feel uneasy or in danger. The tours to the DMZ are very well organised and it’s a true experience you will remember for a long time.

Well its more like an history museum tour than a real exciting border experience as you would imagine. They add a lot of acting to it in term of security and rules which are ridiculous and make all process long and not efficient or memorable. If you have half day to spend then why not but not a wouah experience

We were with extended family and did this tour with 10 of us, ages 14-51. We have traveled all over the world and, much to my chagrin, my children usually show little internet in history. However on this tour, they were very engaged and really enjoyed the experience and appreciated the history. For my part, I do love world history and this did not disappoint. We had a wonderful guide who made the trip there go quickly with loads of interesting information. Everything was very efficient, organized and ran on time. The landscape was beautiful and I thought it was fascinating to see this part of the world. If you are looking for an adventure tour, this is not it. If you are interested in world history, this is a must do. I thought it was cool that you can buy North Korean beer (purchased through China and marketed to Chinese and Russians). It was pretty good beer and had the old school pull tabs. Observatories were really interesting. Yes, you are looking across the land and river via bionoculars to check out their houses and hopefully spot someone walking or riding a bike. You can tell that some reviewers find that uncomfortable, but I thought it was fascinating to get a glimpse of one of the most repressive governments in the world, which is positioned right next to one of the most flourishing economies in the world. And the tunnel was cool (literally was in the low 60’s F, when it was in the mid 90’s outside). It was really enjoyable and interesting, but just being in that area, seeing the landscape and hearing and reading about all of that history was the highlight for me.

Tour guide Mr SP was excellent, very knowledgeable about the North/South history and also of Seoul as we drove through it. The talk with the North Korean defector Miss Jo was the highlight for me. The actual tour was ok, but nothing amazing. We firstly had to spend 3 hours at Imjingak Park as there were 1000's of tourists there we had to wait for our turn to cross the security checkpoint. After 1 hour at Imjingak Park there isnt much to do but sit around, so we did. This congested the time we had available at the other stops. Went to 3rd Infiltration tunnel, but once again the time we had available plus the masses of people meant we walked into the end of the tunnel, turned around and walked straight out. You need a general level of health/fitness and good shoes to go into the tunnel, particularly on the climb out, it was full of exhausted people. Went to Dora Observatory and got to see North Korea, I enjoyed this part, but again 1000s of people there. Most people that go to the DMZ want to see the big ticket item that being the JSA, but most tour operators will not admit that you cant go there, they always talk around the fact that its closed. This tour was ok but it was just another mass tourism, gimicky , and the last 2 stops on the tour were places where they wanted us to spend money and didnt really have anything to do with the DMZ.

My tour to the DMZ was a big disappointment on so many levels And as contradictory as it sounds it was also very informative from the guide Heni.
I prebooked my tour via Trip A Deal when I booked South Korean Discovery Tour .Heni was our very knowledgably and informative guide and in no way is this a reflection on Henis ability as a guide but I do believe that more information as to closure of the JSA should have been made available prior to booking said tour with TAD.
First stop was the Odusan Unification Tower where one can see North Korea (unfortunately rain and cloud prohibited this).Next stop was Pyeonghwa Nuri Park where one can see the Freedom Bridge and Imjingang Rail Bridge as well as The Last Train Out. The Bridge of no Return but cannot walk on as needs repair.
Next was Dora Observatory and Greaves Camp site accessed by gondola. It was here that I was able to view a glimpse of North Korea as the clouds had parted just enough to view.
At no time was there mention that the JSA (Joint Security Area) has been off limits to visitors since July 2023 And this is what I wanted to visit .Disappointment number 1
Be very cautions as most tours still advertise this as a go to
Tunnels also where not included in my tour disappointment number 2
Suspension bridge not included disappointment number 3

Very highly recommend! Moon did a wonderful job sharing the history of the DMZ by sharing her personal experience and knowledge of the information. If was a rainy day so getting great pictures was not easy but she extended her service by offering to send them to us. Our bus driver also shared his personal knowledge. Great tour with a great team! Thank you!

Really enjoyed the tour to the DMZ. Jenny, our guide, was fabulous. We went into Tunnel 3 as part of this tour, and we were lucky the monorail was available for us that day, so didn't have the steep climb. But the tunnel is only about 5 and a half feet high and I am 6 foot tall so, with a hard hat on, I had to stoop over walking the length of the tunnel and back.

The visit brought Korean history to life for us, especially the period since the end of WW II

We were blessed to have sunny as our tour guide. She spoke fluent English and explained the history of North and South Korea in an engaging manner. Really, the experience was surreal. You have to be physically fit to join the trip because you'll be running from one place to another and the schedule is tight. Overall, my visit to DMZ will be forever engraved in my heart. Thank you Sunny.
