- 197gabesSingapore, Singapore160 contributionsProbably the most visited library in SeoulOne of the most unique library in the world. It’s a wonderful sight to see so many books and magazines stacked so high and such a wide selection all together these days. Cannot imagine the librarian having to upkeep the place. With the invasion of social media, rare to see so many people wanting to step into libraries. But there people are just flocking in to take photos, chilling with a drink or chatting with friends. It has truly become a must stop for people visiting the COEX mall. Highly recommended to drop in to have a look, snap a couple of photos for instagram or post a clip on TikTok. Do note it can get quite crowded at times, so be prepared to joust with others for your favorite or perfect spot.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 October 2023
- Lester GencianeoMacau, China737 contributionsCool looking LibraryWe came here unplanned when we roamed the mall after visiting the Gangnam Statue. Uniquely designed shelves and book arrangements probably made it to one of Korea's tourist attractions. You'll find more tourists than actual readers.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 October 2023
- Apple DLuzon, Philippines83 contributionsAs in photosI was prepared to be underwhelmed but hey it was just as in photos. Surprisingly, for a big library of that popularity inside a mall - many people taking photos and videos - it was quiet and people respected that this is actually a working library, despite it being so popular with the IG crowd. I do wish that they sell books too for those who are just in transit and don’t have time to stay and read.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 October 2023
- rashmi kChennai (Madras), India87 contributionsExcellent collection of booksNever seen such a beautiful and large library. The library has huge collection of books and was surprised to see many kids reading. The show was very good and decoration was excellent. Collection of books in every genre is mind blowing. Must visit place. You can take a train upto burgensa station and it leads directly to coex Mall.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 December 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,742 contributionsGood for a quick visitWe saw the pictures of it online and felt it was worth checking out and it was for a few quick pictures. The library is located inside Coex Mall and there are quite a few places to sit, drink a coffee or read a book. Bongeunsa is the closest metro station and The mall has quite a few popular restaurants and stores. Plan to spend about half an hour in the library area and more if you want something to eat or enjoy shopping.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 December 2023
- JosephliyenCalgary, Canada1,267 contributionsGorgeous libraryThis is a gorgeous library, although you probably won't read anything when you come here. Huge line up for some photo op spaces, it's beautiful and if you are here already you might as well line up for them. I would say it's worth a visit for you to just come out and see this, while the rest of the mall is a cherry on top.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 May 2024

With its open layout and comfortable seating, the library invites visitors to explore its vast collection and unwind with a good book. Natural light floods the space, adding to the tranquil ambiance. For book lovers and casual readers alike, Starfield Library offers a serene escape where knowledge and wonder converge. It's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking inspiration and relaxation in Seoul.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 31 May 2024
- Mandy P. ❤️Bangkok, Thailand310 contributionsThe modern library is not just for reading books.📕 🤓This library is the most famous spot in Seoul, Korea. If you visit Seoul, don't forget to visit this place.🤓 Covering an area of over 2,800 square meters, it houses more than 70,000 books and over 600 magazines. There are two levels of seating areas to choose from at your convenience. The 13-meter high bookshelves are a major attraction. Despite the bustling tourists, this is indeed a real library where people come to read. All the books on the shelves can be read as well (if you can reach them). I think Starfield Library was created to be more than just a library. It serves as a hangout spot, a place to rest, and a tourist attraction, with books as the central medium. Even though many people come with the intention of taking photos, it still offers much more. This magnificent library is located in the COEX Mall in the Gangnam district (강남). To get there, take Seoul Subway Line 9 to Bongeunsa Station (봉은사역), use Exit 7, and walk into the building. There will be clear signs inside the building.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 June 2024

Originally I thought this was a bit of a novelty thing, but upon arrival I realised that it was a genuine museum that locals and students can enjoy. To call this a library is a lot misleading. This is basically a tourist attraction space. The books here are staked so high that it's not meant to be taken to be read. The sitting places are dark with dim light and tons of people passing by. They run a Christmas light show with loud music and lights every hour. This is no place for reading and people reviewing need to say this so that unsuspecting tourists (who like to read) does not end up coming here with wrong expectations.
I repeat again, this is a tourist attraction space. Not a library for reading.

A unique place where shelves and shelves of book adorn a lobby of a building interconnected with malls, dept stores, office buildings, lots of cafes and coffee places (a Starbucks is reign there).
I’m not sure what they do with the books. Some are just not going to reachable as it’s stacked so high. Many just sit down to read the multitude of magazines on the tables and racks. Yet, it seems very orderly though it’s a very public place. Still, it’s a place where many visit just for a photo snap.

Located in Seoul's Gangnam district, the Sunshine Library is located within the Cox Starfield, providing visitors with a unique experience. I'd like to introduce the charm of this place through this review.
1. Accessibility and atmosphere
The library is easily reachable on foot from 2nd Line Samsung Station and 9th Line Shenzhen Mission Station. It was especially nice to be able to spend time comfortably indoors even on rainy days. As soon as I arrived at the library, I felt the unique atmosphere of that space. People of all colours were gathering together to generate vibrant energy.
2. Photozone and impressive design
One of the biggest attractions of the Star Garden Library is the photoshop. The main photo zone is a space where you can take pictures on the background of a huge booklet called "Star Garden Library". Many visitors were having fun taking a selfie here. Two of the escalators are famous for their photo zone, and everyone passing through them pulls out their cameras and leaves pictures.
3. Reading and freedom
Inside the library are various magazines and books, and there is space to sit and read for a while. Starbucks is with you, and if you enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book, it will be a more meaningful time.
4. Events and Programs
The Star Garden Library runs a variety of concerts, specialties and classes beyond a mere reading space. I think participating in these Pro grams will give you a richer experience.
5. Conclusion
The Sunshine Library is a hidden jewel of Seoul, a great place to enjoy the photography and reading freedom at the same time. Next time I'd like to visit again at the annual event. I hope your experience here will be a special memory for you.
If you're planning to visit Seoul Cox, be sure to visit the Sunshine Library!

The Starfield Library is very photogenic with its 2 story bookshelf so it attracts a lot of photographers. We took the Subway (green line) to Samseong Station. Look for the exit for COEX and you will find the library. The library is inside a big mall with lots of other shops and restaurants. You will see people riding the escalator multiple times to get a good picture. So if you want a photo with no one, you will have to wait awhile.

This library is located inside the Coex mall in Gangnam. I remember being mesmerized by the library scene from the cartoon movie, The Beauty and the Beast, but that dwarfs in comparison to this. The Starfield library is so much more grand & breathtaking the moment you step inside the library. This is definitely the most beautiful library I’ve ever seen. It’s a must place to visit if you’re a bibliophile. I recall seeing a small portion of the library from one of the K-Dramas. There are plenty places to sit throughout the 1st & second floors as well as a coffee shop overlooking the library.

When I visited the library, the first thing I felt was an overwhelming sense of openness and greatness.
The library felt like a cultural hub in the city, beyond a mere reading space, communicating with people and relaxing. The huge bookstore in the center, as if it had built up a tower of knowledge, caught the eye and aroused a sense of fear for knowledge and learning.
People quietly enjoying reading, walking freely and choosing books, together felt like a living space where books and people coexisted...
Even in the busy city, I felt like I was relaxing all the time here.
Although it was a short time in the library because of the schedule, it was impressed that the book gave me the feeling of a Trips to another world, and that it was a place for intellectual relaxation in the middle of the city.

Every time you go near Samsung Station, you must hear it!!
There are a lot of books, and there are quite a few seats, so it's so easy to read. Sometimes I do pop-ups or installation art exhibitions in the middle of the library, and it's fun to see it! Take a cup of coffee and watch a book in the evening. Recommendation.

Sight & Landmarks within Cox !!!! Photo spot recognizing foreigners ★
If you're in Cox, you're in an unconditional center.
In the special season, there are many events, such as setting a Christmas party or giving a lecture, or shooting LEDs on the bookboard and performing, so it's always popular. It's a good place to sit and read books!

Is Starfield Library within Coex Mall? Google map indicated otherwise.

The Starfield Library is within the Coex Mall. In Korea, I would suggest the tourist to use the HANCHAO apps because Google is not showing very well in Korea and Busan. I have no choice to install the apps if you need more information.

The Library is inside the Mall, it closes at 10pm. The information desk do not provide much information as she said she only knows the information about the mall. If you want to how to leave there, you better search yourself.
