Modern architecture but you can't go to the 30 F anymore.
Jul 2019
Jongno Tower is a very interesting building with a futuristic style in the outside. I was told that there was supposed to be a deck in the 30 floor where you can see the amazing cityscape of Seoul from there, but you are no longer allowed to go there since they turned the deck into a WeWork office. Anyway, since I was already there I decided to check out the basement and they have a really good library with Korean and English books. And the best part is that the library is next to a food court with restaurants and coffee shops, if you want to take a rest after traveling in Seoul and you are around this building, you can spend some time checking the books or grab a meal at the food court, that will help you to gain some energy to keep exploring the city later.

Stunning architecture
Jul 2018 • Family
The Jongro Millennium Tower is one of the very impressive modern buildings in Seoul and it's construction was completed in 1999. It is a 30 storey building with a large gap between several floors near the top which has major Feng Shui significance.

Beware: health and safety at odds with architecture
Jan 2019 • Family
I was standing and resting my lower back against a guardrail in the basement lobby and my hand placed on top of the wooden handrail piece of the guardrail when a security guard came over and instructed me not to lean against the guardrail for the risk of being hit by the fire shutters in case the shutters came down. If this is such an issue, why do they place a guardrail in a danger zone in the first place?

The health and safety rule over the use of the guardrail in this building is obviously misaligned with common expectation since, on the one hand, the architectural element communicates a certain behavior from the users which in instance means it is ok to rest your arm and even lean against since guardrails are there for safety and designed to withstand lateral force while on the other hand, the management's way of using the building is completely against the common norm . The explanation given to me is also illogical because there are also fire shutters around the escalators but the guards were not warning people against standing or walking below those shutters. If the guardrails are placed in an unsafe location, these must be removed because the guardrails which are in essence designed to deliver safety is in fact inviting visitors to an unsafe location which the management is well aware of and thereby violating the building regulations.

I do NOT recommend a visit to this building lest you enjoy being educated and humiliated by security guards on how to 'properly' use a very common architectural feature in a way contrary to international standard.

Unfortunately the observation deck is now closed to the public
Oct 2018 • Solo
I went out of my way to search for the Jongno Tower to get up to the observation deck in time for sunset on a beautiful Saturday evening in October recently. Imagine my disappointment when a guy I approached at the information desk in the foyer told me that the observation deck is now closed to the public...
