Jeongdong Theater, Korea's representative theater for traditional performance Jeongdong Theater was opened in 1995 based on a historical mission with modern contemporary art spirit to restore “Wongaksa,” Korea's first modern theater. It has focused on promoting the value and beauty of traditional Korean art around the world by successfully launching the permanent performance brand [MISO] and by creating and presenting a traditional musical titled “Love Song from Chunhyang” in order to popularize and globalize Korean masterpiece traditional art. In 2011, it presented 〈Silla, the Land of Gods〉, which is a brand performance of Gyeongju, a city of world cultural heritage; it has contributed to the revitalization of cultural tourism as well and development of local culture. It has also been selected as the first case of joint development of cultural contents by the central government and a local group.

Just left an outstanding performance of traditional Korean theatre art which was seamlessly interwoven with modern digital graphics. The Story of Secretary Bae was offered in pansori style (a Korean singing introduction) with English, Chinese, and Japanese subtitles on side screens. The exceptional cast, however,...More

Walk within this area, centered on what used to be the
western gate of traditional Seoul, and you'll get a
glimpse of Korea’s past through the beautiful and
historic buildings that are scattered throughout.
Whether wandering around Deoksugung’s palace walls or
touring more historically somber sites such as
Seodaemun Prison, this is one of the best places for
culture, architecture, and history lovers. Jeongdong
