Centuries of craftsmanship next to a great palace.
This museum uses temporary thematic exhibits to enhance its permanent collection. I saw one on the importance of fishing. Another area was under construction. The classic folk art displays were well done. I thought there was a lot of walking. This is a classy place - and free. The entry point is not obvious.

    My favourite Seoul museum
The standard of national museums in Seoul have been fantastic and this was no exception. Their permanent exhibitions around Korean celebrations and rituals throughout the year and over the life course were fascinating. The artefacts are beautifully presented with lots of fascinating information panels with English translations. The cafe, toilets and shop were also good. This was my favourite of Seoul’s museums and was not overly busy.

Definitely visit at the beginning of your stay in Seoul!
My son and I learned so much about Korean culture by visiting this museum on our first day out. It was a great reference source for things we would be seeing later on our trip. I give this museum a 10/10 for information and quality of displays.

Three permanent exhibitions 1. fish and fishing Smells like fish, history, culture and social significance 2. A year in Korea Takes you through the four seasons and activities by Koreans 3. Life passages. Growing up-old, yesterday and today in Korea So good. Yes yes yes

    Great cultural experience!
We really enjoyed our visit. The space outside of the museum was quite pretty and serene. We went with our 9 year old daughter and only made it through the first floor and spent about an hour. My daughter is not a huge fan of history, so my husband and I enjoyed this museum more than she did but we felt it was a worthwhile experience. The museum is free for the general entrance. there are special exhibits that cost extra but we didn't feel compelled to view it. We'll definitely be back again to check out the other floors and the rest of the park attached to the museum.

    Quick glimpse of Korean life
This is a fun and informative experience to understand the key features of Korean culture. The museum tells the collective memory of Koreans from birth to death as well as the major festivals. There is also a recreation of 1980s Seoul to show how the Korean capital evolved to a modern metropolis. Quite an interesting place for tourists to explore more about the country.

    Worth a free visit
It’s an interesting museum with cool designs and exhibits. We went during a limited time exhibit but unfortunately there was no English text to talk about it so we had to use our phones for each element. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the museum though, definitely worth a visit

I highly recommend going to this small museum if you are interested in the development of the Korean culture , from way of life to marriage cemeteries. Excellent for all ages.

This is the one and only place in Seoul that I truly enjoyed visiting. The collection is fantastic and also the section 'A trip down the memory lane' was quite cool.

Great looking building from the outside and wide and spacious inside, but exhibits could have been a bit more informative. Still enjoyed the visit!
