The area
Neighbourhood: Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighbourhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighbourhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighbourhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.

Shopping & Street Food Haven

Great place for shopping. Many shops along the streets - Convenient stores, beauty, Korean restaurants, clothes, duty free shops, etc. It is a busy and crowded place so for those with young kids, do keep them close.

We came to a street full of street foods too. A high recommended must try! Rubbish bins are rare in sight so you have to stand near the stall to eat and will help discard the rubbish.

Plenty of walking so bring you comfy walking shoes ;)

Hotel , shopping , restaurants

If you need stay in shopping area, Myeongdong hotel like Nine tree, Jhill, Skypark 1, Savoy etc are better choices, they are right in the middle of the shopping area and restaurants. alight at Myeongdong subway station exit 8 and Nine tree is the nearest hotel. It maybe noisy there.

You cannot see much from Google website for these hotel. when you reach in the eveing or at night the street is pack with people. Saw taxi maneuver inside is slower than people walking.

All above mentioned hotels have door access direct to shopping street.

IF you have kids go together, i do not think they will like this place. heard a few kids from other family sitting near us in the restaurant, told their parents to leave them in hotel room rather than bring them to shopping.
