Great park for cute local picnic
Came here for a picnic with my partner on one of the days during our vacation. It was a great local experience which we really enjoyed.. away from the bustling touristy sites. The nearest station is Yeouinaru (exit 2). Easy to rent mats, tables, blankets etc. Many street food stalls or you can order delivery food! Wide park with a view of Han River, looking at locals enjoying themselves, couples on dates, teens on school trips. A relaxing day to nap and laze in the park. Great for photos too! Would choose a different hangang park next time for a different experience!

    Lovely riverfront
I cannot believe I only managed to visit this place at my third Seoul trip. Yeouido Hangang Park is a serene riverfront area a bit away from the main tourist route. It is the best option to appreciate the beauty of Hangang at its fullest. A stroll along the waterfront boardwalk is relaxing and soothing. It is also a perfect place to escape the urban bust.

    Early cherry blossom viewing
The closest subway station is Yeouinaru (Subway Line 5, Purple), exit via Exits 2 or 3. I believe only Exit 4 is the one with the elevator. This is one of the recommended sites for cherry blossom viewing (I visited 1 APR 2024), where the cherry blossoms were just starting to bloom, though there was one tree just right outside the station exit 2 that was further along the blooming process. Cherry blossom trees line the footpaths to the left and right of the exits, just pick any one and enjoy! Visited around 10+ in the morning, was relatively quiet, and you could take all the time you wish; the area got a lot more crowded during lunchtime, so do be early!

A great place for a panoramic view of Seoul along the Han river. It is a very huge park and many people can do various activities in the area. There were people exercising, busking, taking photos, or simply relaxing and hanging out with their friends. There were specific areas filled with cherry blossoms.

Very, very nice place to walk. Mostly in the morning and evening. In summer there something like pools and small streams. You should have some clothes for change because you can be wet after having fun in the water. Nice place for families.

Yeouido Hangang Park is located on the huge Yeouido Island, home to Seoul’s main financial district. This is a huge, popular park on the river featuring scenic views and my family and I were here on a sunny Friday late morning during autumn. While the park attracts scores of locals and tourists for the annual Yeouido Spring Flower Festival displaying the beautiful cherry blossoms, I found that Hangang Park also held its own wonderful stage during autumn.

Getting there: We were at Hangang Park once we came out of Exit 3 or Exit 2 of the Yeouinaru Station (Subway Line 5). It is that accessible. As a public park, there is no entrance fee. And once out of Exit 2, walking on the huge open space toward the river brought us to the 3 words “I SEOUL U”.

The Park (Attraction): Besides walking (as most people do), cycling is a faster and flexible way to experience the beauty of the Han River, the 3 bridges – Wonhyo, Mapo, and Seogang – that link Yeouido Hangang Park with the north of Han River, surrounding landmarks and the seasonal flora (for us it was the brilliant autumn hues of red, orange and yellow).

We rented two bicycles at a bicycle rental kiosk that is about 4 minutes’ walk from Exit 2. It opened at 9 am and charged affordable rates of ₩ 3,000 for single bike per hour with ₩ 500 every 15 minutes thereafter and ₩ 6,000 per hour for tandem (couple) bicycle followed by ₩ 1,000 every 15 minutes thereafter.

While the 16 km route round the Yeouido Island takes about 2 hours, we spent 2 hours on a ride-rest-take photographs route that took us west past Mapo Bridge and Seogang Bridge to the westernmost part of the Park or Island and then back again all the way to just before Wonhyo Bridge. At the westernmost part, you could look across and see the Dangsan Railroad Bridge, Yanghwa Bridge and the Jeoldusan (“hill of severed heads”) Matyrs’ Shrine at Jamdubong Peak.

We enjoyed the wide cycling pathway or track along the promenade, and these tracks transforms into huge spaces when cyclists and pedestrians share the activities. One classic space contains the 3 words “I SEOUL U” after a short walk from Exit 2 of Yeouinaru Station. To me, what’s more enjoyable were taking in the contrasting yet fabulous views on either side of the Han River. Within the Park are some of the famous glassy skyscrapers in the financial district - we saw the LG Twin Towers, Conrad Hotel and the under construction maroon-lined Parc 1 Tower A and Tower B (when completed, Tower A at 333 metres will become South Korea’s 5th tallest building) and of course the 63 Building (the world’s largest gold-cladded building).
The other side of Han River is more densely populated and there are countless buildings. What stood out from the clutter is the N Seoul Tower on top of the hill. And along the Han River, there’s the Floating Stage which hold concerts, outdoor performances and night movies.

We then bought lunch from Lotteria (one of the several floating restaurants) and ate it at one of the unique “springy” benches in the Park – really relaxing! After that, we recced the Park for direction to the Eland Cruise terminal so we would not be lost when we came back later in the night.

Nevertheless, it was the first time that my family and I did cycling on our Seoul vacation. We enjoyed the exercise and the sightseeing especially along the beautiful Han River without the weekend crowd. I recommend cycling for a unique experience, otherwise walking is just as enjoyable for those who cannot cycle.

This is a place to chill at night, sunset is beautiful, you can picnic with loved ones, have dinner on one of the boat cruises, enjoy street performances! Best of all, rent a bike and cycle along the Hangang with the locals.

Bike rental is affordable and the bikes are very new and comfortable to cycle on! One thing to remember is the river is quite long, so if you would like to complete the entire cycling route, you might want to rent the bike for one whole day, or at least 4 hours (which is still rather inexpensive), considering that you would need time to travel back to the rental shop.

If you get lost, the good news is that bikes are allowed onto metros, you can easily find the nearest metro station and take the metro back to the Yeouido station, which is only a few minutes away from the rental shop.

Bring a photo ID along, you'll need to deposit it with the rental shop and will get it back when you return the bike.

PS couples, young families and friends will definitely enjoy picnics here

This park is huge! If you're tired of the crowds in Seoul city, spend some time here. Just take a walk and enjoy the city skyline, bridges or sit and chill with friends. You can easily buy a mat at the park. We came in the daytime. Hope to catch the fireworks festival next time,!

Yeouido Hanggang park is one of the three popular Hangang parks along with Banpo and Jamsil. This park will be extremely crowded during the Spring Flowers Festival (early April, about 10 days) and the Firework Festival (September or October, but only a few days.) Other than that, it won't be crowded that much except weekends.

Many locals bring a tent or a mat (there are many rental places too) to the park, and drink (yes, you can drink in public in Korea) and eat fried chickens (they deliver it to you) here. (The regulation about the tent and trash is recently tightened) But, please noted that it will be almost empty during Winter and extremely cold to be here.

Visit Friday and Saturday nights(18~23), and try international cuisines from food trucks (called Toggaebi-Yasijang) Toggaebi-yasijang won't open during Winter either.

We popped by Yeouido Hangang Park on a weekday afternon in November, hoping to hire bikes to go for a trundle. Unfortunately the bike rental places were closed despite us checking the opening hours before. With cold and grey weather we walked for a short while exploring the trails in the park but it wasn't that pleasant beacuse of the poor conditions. We spent some time watching the river before calling time and heading back to the Metro. I imagine it could be very lovely in full sun, but our experience was dissapointing.
