    Historical and Cultural Square
If you walk north from City Hall, a couple of blocks, you will arrive at a wide mostly pedestrian square, Gwanghwamun Square. Here you will have lots of space to take in many of the historical and cultural sights of Korea. Statute of Admiral Yi Sun Sin, decorated naval officer, statute of King Sejong The Great, the Korean Cultural Center, the opera house, the Korean History Museum, and at the top of the square The Gwanghwamun gate. In addition, coffee shops and restaurants and possibly events and exhibits in the square. Educational and interesting time spent.

    Pedestrian walkway with historical value
Nice stretch of a walkway flanked by 2 important statues. The one invented the Korean alphabet. While the other one is a sort of politics leader and war hero. Towards the end is another important historical gate. Worth the stroll and photo ops.

    Very impressive
This is a large and impressive square in central Seoul. There are two big statues in the pedestrianised area which runs for a long stretch besides various impressive sights. A must see in central Seoul. Free to access.

    Beautiful Square to Visit
After passing by this Square while riding the bus, I decided to get off here and explore. As most reviewers are saying, it has two huge statues of famous Korean men, perfect background for taking photos. There are other attractions nearby, so plan to spend several hours here.

One of the most popular touristic spots in Seoul. Good to visit.
- The best time to visit is when it has the least protest.
- The cascaded water path having the tree of Korean kings on the ground is impressive.

Beautiful plaza with metro stations and 2 famous statues of King Sejong seated snd Admiral Yu Sun si with his sword. It is in front of the Palace South Gare in front of the USA Embassy and the center for the Performing Arts. Because it was December, they were decorating the square with booths to shop and inflatable lighted characters. Metro stations around and below the history of both the King snd the Admiral

Love how they line up the admiral, the king’s inventions (including the Korean language) the king and the palace. Love the positioning. Love how they carve out this area into a pedestrian walkway while the vehicular traffic passes all around it. Awesome thought process.

This is the massive and impressive public square in front of the main entrance to Gwanghwamun Palace and its full of interesting statuary and plenty of plaques explain things that used to be there and things that still do!
Great views of the palace and its main gate. Loads of life and bustle about and its very close to the main shoppibg areas and lots of eateries.

the squarer surround by the changeoung stream, the king sejong statue, and the gyeungbokgung palace, in front of gwanghwamun gate, exactly in the centre of the city when the modern building mix with the traditional culture

While the statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi are impressive, you can take the stairway to the underground museums dedicated to both of these icons and you are likely to be even more impressed. Both museums are top notch tributes that explain the importance of both of these figures in Korean history. The cost is free!

The square itself is worth the visit, with statues of the King and the Admiral and in sight of Gyeongbokgung Palace (5 minute walk away). Lots of people around, taking pictures, having a coffee, etc. Great views!
Highly recommend that you go underground to the free museum/exhibit, which you can get to from the backside of the statue of King Sejong (stairs and elevator available). At the desk they can provide you with a free audio guide and it takes 30-45 minutes to do the whole thing. I learned so much history about Korea, from the development of the alphabet and music to the Imjin war(Japanese aggression in the 1400s) and development of the Navy. We're all history buffs, so we really enjoyed this uncrowded little treasure.

Square is amazing, super beautiful and well worth the stop. I would highly recommend avoiding on Saturday due to protests, it does not make it in passable but more difficult to traverse.
