Coptic Cairo gives a tiny taste of how "old" Cairo once was. The church built in the Roman tower is quite something to see.

See several Coptic Christian churches, a synagogue and mosque next door to each other. Many small shops with local items for souvenirs .

Copt's believe they are the oldest branch of Christianity and they may have a legitimate claim. The Old City has a number of Churches that are some of the oldest in the world. Make sure you check out the reviews of the Hanging Church, synagogue, and the Coptic Museum, all in this area.

Due to the amount of churches and being walled in the area is named the Babylon Fortress. Not much to do besides see a couple churches. Nice restaurant across the Main Street in the mosque. Neighborhood is very poor but the people are wonderful. Unlike most of Cairo no one is pushing nor engaging you to purchase things from there... More

It's located in middle of Cairo and it's very easy to go there by public transportation. I went there by metro and it was very nice day you can see more than churches

This is a must see on anyone's visit to Egypt! The murals, architecture and icons were breath taking! I had no idea or had forgotten this piece of Egyptian history. My guide, Araby Ahmed, fascinated me with his knowledge of old Cairo and Egypt in general.

The Copts are an ancient ethno-religous group in Egypt, where they comprise the single largest Christian denomination. As such, they broke away from the Byzantine Orthodox church in the mid-5th century. Their quarter of Cairo is very, very old and quite beautiful. There are dozens of beautiful, centuries-old churches to visit here. Most beautiful, and most interesting, are the Hanging... More
