I never write reviews, but the quality of this tour really did it for me. Hassan, who was our guide, was extremely knowledgable about the various sites, but found a way to not be boring. He was a highlight of the trip in my opinion, especially when it came to navigating markets that we stopped at, all without being overbearing. The crew of the Dahbiyyeh we took were very accommodating, even going as far as making special meals for persons who had food allergies. Prices on board for alcohol are below market rate and you would be har pressed to find cheaper elsewhere (trust me I looked).
In my opinion you should sail the Luxor to Aswan route as this way you will have the possibility of sailing rather than be pulled by a tug boat which is the case going from Aswan to Luxor. Highly recommend you bring cash with you, as alcohol and tipping can only be paid for in cash. Would definitely recommend taking this company over any of the large cruise ships.

Our dahabiya was operated by Djed Egypt Travel, the local tour company that organized much of our trip. We arranged flights and hotels ourselves but everything else on this complicated trip was flawlessly executed by Djed: private tours in Cairo, Giza, Aswan and Luxor, the overnight train, the transfers via minibus between venues and, of course, the dahabiya. You give Djed a rough itinerary and tell them what you wish to see and they do the rest.
A company is as good as its people. Djed’s people were excellent: professional, courteous, punctual, reliable. Guides are knowledgeable, often university graduates in Egyptology, expert in hieroglyphics and mythology. Names: Mohamed Nasser set up the tour via email. Tarek El Gezawy and Osama Abd El Ghany from Djed’s Cairo and Luxor offices made sure we made our connections. Among our tour guides, Moustafa Mohsen was a great storyteller; Amel Saad’s presentations were concise, thoughtful and clear, Abdulla Yosef, who accompanied us on the Dahabiya, made hieroglyphics come alive. Mostafa Nasser found us a pharmacy when one of us developed a cold. Ask for any one of them.

We booked a 3-nights Dahabiya Boat trip from Assuan to Luxor with Djed Egypt Travel. The whole trip was amazing from start to finish. We were picked up at our guesthouse in Assuan in the morning and brought to the ship. After a friendly welcome by the whole crew we explored the cabins and the amazing deck. Onboard there are sunbeds, a hammock, boardgames, books, etc. The service onboard was incredible with all non-alcoholic drinks included and delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our guide Abdulla accompanied us throughout the trip and shared with us the rich history and culture of Ancient Egypt. He was extremely knowledgeable and even taught us some hieroglyphes. We visited multiple temples and tombs in Kom Ombo, Edfu and Esna amongst other, some of which are not accessible by the big cruise ships. Despite seeing many different places the trip offered a good balance between visits and time to relax and enjoy the boat.
All in all, this trip was a unique way to explore a part of Egypt and we can highly recommend it.

I booked a full Egypt itinerary with Djed, including a 3-day Dahabiya cruise and glad that I chose them. They provided impeccable service and covered all logistics. During the planning phase, Asmaa from their operations team was super responsive and tailored the itinerary to my family's preferences, making useful suggestions along the way.
Ground support at all locations (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan) etc. was superb. Djed representatives, particularly Mr. Ahmed Lotfy and drivers were professional but friendly and warm. We needed a COVID test and Mr. Lotfy stayed back at the lab to collect our results while we visited the Egyptian Museum. He even scanned the results and sent them to us when we were in the museum to assuage our worries. Most of the guides they provided were excellent. We did not have a great guide on our first Cairo visit (in the great scheme of things, an anomaly) but Djed made sure that we had a much better guide during the second part when I shared our feedback.
The Dahabiya cruise is the ONLY way you should do a Nile cruise. The overall experience, including the gentle float on the river, warm and courteous service from the boat crew with delicious food and our Egyptologist Hassan, was outstanding. We were lucky to have a harmonious group of people on the boat (total 11 people spread over six cabins) and made some lifelong friends.
I typically travel independently but in this case, I felt that the care and attention from Djed team made it worthwhile to spend extra for the tailor-made package. They were generally competitive in pricing (As you know, it is hard to compare pricing for tailored experiences because every package is really unique) However, I felt that Djed service was A+.
Highly recommended!

My family of four, including two teenage daughters, toured Egypt with Djed from December 20, 2020- January 2, 2021, and it was absolutely the best experience! The people at Djed handled every aspect of our private tour from meeting us at the airport, assisting with visas, and transferring us to our hotels.
The tour guides who met us in Giza, Luxor, Aswan and Cairo were all knowledgeable and accommodating to our pace. I would like to mention them all by name because they were so awesome you may want to request them when booking. In Giza and Cairo, we toured with Hader. He was awesome as a historian and egyptologist, and he made our trip more interesting by suggesting other things to see in Cairo that we might have missed otherwise. Ultimately, we had an excellent overview of the pyramids, complete with a visit to the inner sanctum of Khufu, Saqqara and Dashur, as well as a tour of Islamic and Coptic Cairo, and tours of 20th century palaces and residences. He even coached me on bargaining in the Souk!
Djed arranged our flights to Luxor and back to Cairo from Aswan. We enjoyed touring with Samar in the Valley of the Kings and at Karnak, and with Ireni in Aswan. Ireni also took us to Abu Simbel and was very knowledgeable about the Egyptology as well as the Dam and new cultivation projects in the desert.
One of the best things about our trip was our 4 night sail on the Nile aboard a Dahabiya called the Loulia. The rooms were spacious for a boat and super comfortable. The food was exceptional, and our chef was adorable - he sang for us on Christmas night! Our daily guide to the sights was Abdullah, and he was absolutely phenomenal! He related well to our 13 year old and made the egyptology material interesting and fun for the teens. I'm sure the tour guides for the other boats are great too, but I would request Abdullah - We LOVED him!
One other things that I don't want to forget is our visit to Softa Restaurant in Luxor. This meal was included in our tour, and I highly recommend. The food was fabulous, and the waiter was very helpful in recommending dishes.
This experience was so awesome that I would return to Egypt and use this company again to facilitate travel to the other places in Egypt that I have yet to visit like Alexandria and the Red Sea. I highly recommend them, they are flexible and try to adapt to your needs, and they were all a lot of fun!

My sister, daughter, niece and I took a 12 day trip to Egypt in January 2022. We usually book trips on our own but when it became apparent we would need to book many individual trips we decided to book the entire trip with Djed Egypt Travel. We are very glad we did.
We sent them information on the sites we wanted to visit and they put together an itinerary that included everything we asked for, including a three-night boat trip down the Nile on a traditional Dahabiya. Djed handled booking our hotels, domestic flights and entry into all of the sites. They provided a city representative, driver and Egyptologist in all three cities we visited.
The city representative made sure everything went smoothly, they took us to and from airports and coordinated our itinerary. Our Egyptologist, Samba in Aswan is a great storyteller and can bring hieroglyphics to life. Yessar on the dahabiya and in Luxor is a scholar, Menna in Cairo and Alexandria not only gave us an excellent tour, but she also took extra care to make sure my sister and I (we are in our late 60's) were not hurried and safely navigated all sites-Thank you Menna! The
Egyptologists were all experts in ancient Egypt history and spoke great English. The drivers also should be mentioned-driving in Egypt is chaotic. Each of the drivers expertly and safely navigated the chaos.
We recommend Djed without hesitation
It was very nice to sit back and be taken care of and resulted in an amazing trip.

Fantastic company. Reached out to Ayman a month before leaving for Egypt and together we planned a full itinerary for our 2 weeks around Egypt - Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and finally Cairo and Giza. This was my husbands 50th birthday trip so it was important to me that it was special and thanks to Djed they totally exceeded our expectations.
At every step of the journey they were brilliant - vans/transport never even a minute late and always spotless and driven professionally, guides excellent and the dahabiyyaa boat experience was the highlight of our trip.
All of the guides were fully trained Egyptologists which meant they REALLY knew what they were talking about. I would especially like to recommend Moustafa in Cairo, Safi in Aswan and our favourite, Hamdi who accompanied us on our trip down the Nile and to all the accompanying sights on the journey. Crew and food on the boat were brilliant and we were very well looked after at all times.
Djed like to call themselves a family and it really shows in the way they treat their guests and how seamless their service is when handing over from one guide to another. An example of going above and beyond - Ahmed (one of the managers in Cairo) went out of his way to take us to the govt building for our PCR tests and then came back with us again the next day to collect the results with us (in case of any problems he wanted to be there). Very much apprecaited and made the whole process a lot less stressful for us.
My only negative about this company is that sometimes the owner, Ayman, who does all the organising and itinerary planning can be a little hard to get hold of via email and you may need to wait a few days for replies to questions/changes in itinerary. This can be frustrating but as long as you are not in a crazy rush it is no problem and the end result was certainly worth it.
I would highly recommend booking with Djed and have already recommended them to many friends. If we went to Egypt again, this is the only company we would use.

DJED company literally MADE our trip in Egypt and I can not imagine going to Egypt through anyone else to help us with everything.
We initially reached out to them about booking a 3 day/2 night dahabiya sailing experience and they were super accommodating about what experience we were looking for and sites to see. We were looking for something authentic, a way where we would sail along the nile and visit ancient temples/villages and not be in a big cruise ship with 50+ people. Ahmed was so accommodating throughout the booking process and build a custom itinerary for our timeframe. It was so helpful and he accommodated everything
Doing the sailing down the Nile trip absolutely made our experience in Egypt and this was my favorite part by far. On our boat, they only allow up to 12 guests and then several of the crew are on as well. For our trip it was myself, my friend, and 4 other people and this was the perfect size. For 3 days we got to sail along the nile, watch the sun rise and set along the banks, visited local villages, farms, explored ancient temples, ate incredibly fresh food, and learned about all of the history from Mohammed. He was a huge wealth of knowledge and spoke 6+ languages. Tito and the other crew on the boat were also such a blast, and also made our experience. The sail boat was beautiful and our room even came with it’s own private balcony.
Along with the Dahaibya boat, DJED also helped plan our 1 1/2 days in Cairo and1 1/2 days in Luxor. I would highly recommend having a guide through them when exploring these cities. When we landed in Cairo, they took care of everything, helping expedite us through visas and customs. Mena in Cairo was our main guide there and was so much fun. She knew so much history, took us to all the hot spots, really helped explain a lot of the Egyptian history, and even took us to some fun markets and the oldest cafe in Cairo. Sarah in Luxor took us to all the main sites, also was such a wealth of knowledge. We got to learn about her family and background, which made us feel so at home!
Our itinerary is below that they will help build with you.
1 1/2 days in Cairo
3 days Sailing from Aswan to Esna. Disembark at Esna to transfer to Luxor
1 1/2 days in Luxor
I would highly recommend this company if you want an authentic/ immersive trip to Egypt. They really tailor to your needs and show you a side of Egypt that I genuinely feel you would not get with another company. It is personal, more private, and had a huge focus on culture and history.
Thank you Djed for an awesome experience!

So I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this needs to be known about Djed travel. First it’s not really a private tour they have a van and they contract out tour guides, now they do pick you up from the airport and assist with baggage and hotel check in however you never know what kind of guide you will get. I had 1 guide for each city I got lucky Menna in Cairo was amazing very informative and really made it enjoyable. However when I went to kings valley in Luxor my tour guide wasn’t very good at all she was at the best below average kinda lazy not very informative. I then got on my Dahabiya boat for my Nile cruise which turned out to be beautiful a small crew with like 12 people max. The crew was amazing always friendly and getting you things, everything but alcohol was included and my guide on the boat abdula was awesome. But then the bad news they only run the electricity for 2 hours in the morning and 3.5 hrs at night which normally would be ok but traveling in May we had temperatures of 113f (45 c) it was so hot outside with absolutely no way to cool down this part wasn’t advertised on the website so we had no idea that was the case and at some points it got pretty bad you would just take a cold shower to cool down. The food was ok breakfast for the first 2 days was jam honey crepes and hard boiled eggs the 3rd day was just hard boiled egg and biscuit with jam and the last day just biscuits and a banana. Lunch was always amazing with things I didn’t have anywhere else in Egypt and then dinner was ok but nothing special. After getting off the boat we drove to abu simbel and back in a day which was really cool except our guide was really awful she was nice but other then that just terrible and then unfortunately I got stuck with her and 2 other people for our Aswan tour and it was a crap day the guide didn’t listen to any requests we had or anything. From there I had my transfer to hurghada which turns out is a 6.5 hour drive from Aswan. I guess most people go from Luxor yet another thing I wasn’t informed of. We ended up driving on destroyed roads and eventually dirt roads had I known I would have done the cruise from Aswan to Luxor instead and then gone to hurghada. This was the worst drive I think I’ve ever been in the driver took his own route instead of what everyone else would usually take and the drive took 10 hours! I even told the company about it and they brushed it off with (sorry to hear that) As far as accommodations I chose to book my own and am glad I did another group on the boat told me when they arrived in Cairo they had been told they were staying at a beautiful resort near the pyramids only to be told upon arrival they now owe more money for that hotel or they will be put in a different one and couldn’t leave the airport until they paid. Overall Egypt was amazing but I wouldn’t recommend djed as all they really do is plan your trip and arrange transfers and guides and most there guides were not good.

We spent 2 weeks on the Classic Egypt tour organised by Djed Travel. We did quite a lot of research about which company to book with and had a couple of Facetime conversations with Djed and felt reassured that they were the best choice for us and that certainly proved to the the case. We are a family of 4 with 2 older teenagers and we all loved our time in Egypt. Tarek met us at the airport and helped with visas and baggage, unfortunately the airline lost 3 of our suitcases but Djed were fantastic at sorting it all out and reuniting us with our things. They took us to our hotel and helped us check in. Then the next morning we were collected in one of the comfortable Djed transports by a driver and our guide Tamar and taken on our first excursion. We were provided with bottled water regularly during the trips, each of our guides Tamar, Hamdi, Dina and Heba were brilliant and we learned so much about Egypt and it's history. All the worry about getting around is taken away by Djed, you can really relax and know that they will look after you. The cruise on the dahabiya was a real highlight, we were the only passengers and it really felt like home, the boys enjoyed jumping into the Nile (which is very cold) and the meals and service were amazing. We especially enjoyed the BBQ where we ate with the crew and did some stargazing. Luxor and Aswan are amazing places to visit, we stayed at the Old Winter Palace in Luxor and loved it, the pool and gardens were so relaxing and there's lots of places to eat nearby plus relaxing walks along the Nile. We did a hot air balloon ride at sunrise which was incredible and something we will never forget. In Aswan we enjoyed the Movenpick resort on Elephant Island where you have to cross the Nile in a ferryboat to reach it. Lovely views along the river watching the feluccas sailing around. We would recommend Djed Egypt Travel to anyone looking to explore Egypt, they are so professional, courteous and reliable and it was reassuring to know that they had our back at all times.

Hi,
I’m trying to contact Djed travel as well and have tried several times via email and phone. Any suggestions?
Written 16 January 2020
They owner of Djed is named Ayman Simman. He lives in Holland, but travels frequently (I am told) to Egypt. I also experienced a delay when I tried to contact him, but he eventually did. After that everything was good. He may be traveling. You would think that Ayman would have employees who answer email inquiries when he is unavailable, but one way to have control over your business is to answer all the mails yourself. So that could be a reason. My opinion is give it a little more time. And, by the way, before I booked with Djed I tried to contact a couple of other agencies and got the same response: NO response. Ayman was the one who finally responded, but none of the others ever did. Clearly they are not hurting for business. I also know that this is the high time of their tourist season - all travel agencies in Egypt would be very busy right now.

If you mean to pay for the services with cash, then you would do so on arrival...just make sure to ask for a receipt or have them sign your invoice indicating that they got the full amount and hold on to that. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me.

Hi, is there a number that could use to communicate with DJED over whatsapp?
Their responses to emails is way too slow!

I found using a facebook messenger got a faster response. They are very slow to respond to emails but the pain is worth it.

Does anyone at Djed answer emails? Should I call. I've written the company twice (both emails) in the past two weeks. I haven't heard anything and tried again today. Looking at the answers below I realize that this is typical for them, so I'll wait until Monday before I book with Memphis instead. I understand that they're a real company but this is making me uncomfortable in booking with them. Djed if you're there, please respond to TravelXena today. Thanks.

While it sometimes took a couple days for email responses (and once I had to write twice to get a response) they normally responded next day. No reason not to call them also. I thought they were outstanding at a reasonable price. Good luck.

A friend and I are interested in a Dahabiya trip, You said you paid About £1000 for two people. What did this include? We would spend remainder of holiday in Luxor and Cairo.

We paid less than 700 US dollars by going near the end of hi season. It was a bit warm but there were not tourists crawling all over the place. GREAT TRIP...Nice choice. You will be blown away over and over to the point where you will have sensory overload.
Have fun...I'm jealous.

To reach the owner of Djed travel who lives in Netherlands try this number: +31 70 381 5533
I'm not sure this is correct, but Mr. Simman called me a couple of times during our tour, to make sure everything was OK (he really is a great guy!), and I found this Netherlands number on my phone for the right period. I think it must be him.

I am trying to book my revised itinerary for Djed travel but they are extremely slow to respond (last 2-3 weeks) - is this normal? I'm not even sure if they are still operating. They provided a very thorough itinerary at a reasonable cost; so I would prefer to continue with them if possible. But I feel I'm in limbo.

I worked with them last year. They definitely can sometimes drop the ball on email replies, but almost always a clear email of "I've tried several times with no response" will get them up and running again. Their travel arrangements were impeccable with very few hiccups, and so I would happily work with them again despite the occasional challenges with responses. It is also Ramadan right now, which slows everything down as well.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
