I have always loved Egyptian History and have had the image of the pyramids and sphinx burned into my brain! Upon arriving to the Sphinx, I never realized just how off the proportions were with the face and body. Upon further research I think the theory of the original head being Anubis has some pretty sound evidence! Look it up,... More

The place is well guarded and can view from a decent distance. Crowded but worth it ..for a few snaps of photographs. There are many even more interesting places to visit and cover which have more stories and history behind it.

The experience is surreal. We had the pleasure of seeing the Sphinx during the day and in the evening. Spectacular!

There is not much to say about it except that it is absolutely unbelievable and should be on everyone's bucket list. It is almost unreal.

As a monument itself Sphinx isn't that attractive but the stories and the history makes it very special. The real beauty and elegance of the sphinx could only be realized during the Light and Sound show at the evenings.

This is truly a wonderful statue but you can no longer get up next to it unless you are with Archeological Paths. There is currently archeological work being done at the site.

It's not even close to what you see in movies or pictures. You actually have to be right there to really appreciate all the work that went into this work of stone.

I am giving the site 5/5 because how can you not? Just be forewarned that everyone from the guards to the camel drivers to horse buggy drivers will harass you in some form or another to get you to buy their services or tip them or have them take your photo (for money) - there was absolutely no way to... How can you not give this attraction 5/5 - it is on just about everyone's bucket list for a reason. The Sphinx is stunning and the history, surroundings and everything about it is just unbelievable, you cannot fully imagine it's magnificence until you have stood In front of it. However, be wary when visiting anything in Cairo / Giza but... More
