I guess no one comes to Egypt and misses seeing the pyramids at Giza.
A wonderful sight.
We got there pretty early in the morning, which is probably advisable: it wasn't too hot or too crowded.

Make sure your guide takes you round this one too. Mine missed it. Worth a closer look. Admire the geometry and effort taken to build it.

It was huge. It was ancient and I finally got to see it. I just wish there weren't so many people, so many horses/camels/buses to dodge. Go in late fall/winter when it's not so busy because I was told I was there on a 'slow' day.

Khafre's Pyramid gets less attention than the Pyramid of Cheops but it is quite interesting. It belongs to Cheops' son Chefren. The pyramid looks bigger than it is because of higher elevation.
Look towards the top to see a lot of outer limestone casing still there.

The scale and size of the monument is simply unbelievable . To build something this size thousand’s of year ago is just astonishing .

Built by Khufu's son, Khafre's pyramid is in the same style but just a bit smaller in size. Part of the original outer surface is still visible at the top.

Beautiful pyramid with some of the outer rock still in place near the top. We paid a small separate fee to enter underneath the pyramid and see the burial chamber. Don't try it if you're claustrophobic or can't crouch down and walk up and down a ramp with a ceiling height of about four feet. Burial chamber was interesting but very warm. Interesting experience.

This is the second largest pyramid in Egypt, it is fascinating and one must go inside the pyramid on a great spiritual path.

Getting inside this pyramid is as much exciting as getting into the Great Pyramid.
By the way, Khafre's pyramid IS NOT the Great pyramid, although it seems larger than that of Khafre's father, Khufu. It just stands on higher ground.

The pyramids of Khafre and Khufu (the Great Pyramid) are open for visitors (extra ticket for each). Upon entrance and before you leave the ticket office, check which pyramids are open or not on a big board. Remember that once you're inside you must bring your extra tickets with you.

CURRENT PRICES (DECEMBER 2020)
- Giza Plateau (general admission): EGP 200
- The pyramid of King Khafre - interior: EGP 100

PHOTOGRAPHY
You won't be allowed to take cameras with you. Only cellphones are allowed. Be aware that if you're alone (no one with you or a tour guide), you will probably need to leave your stuff with the guards at the entrance, which I really don't think is a good option.

BAKSHEESH (TIPS)
You will certainly be followed by the guards upon entrance because you will be their chance to get a tip. They will insist and insist and insist for you to give them your cellphone so that they can take lots of pictures of you. You have two options: either you accept it or not. If you don't, maybe you'll need to be a bit rude to convince them to leave you alone. But believe me: they will insist. hahahahaha
But if you accept it, tip them ONLY in the end, not when you give them your cellphone, because they will take lots of pictures of you and then will certainly ask you more. Some of them will whine and grumble, but be firm and say "that is all I have". Don't be shy and don't feel intimidated. You will experience that lots of times in Egypt. Get used to it.

Photographing is one of my favorite hobbies, but, believe me, your cellphone will be a better option (in lots of temples in Egypt). As long as the royal chambers are really dark, you would definitely need a tripod inside...

That was an amazing experience and I really recommend it.

Looks taller than the "great" pyramid as it is on a higher elevation. This one does not have an entrance to it like the great pyramid does
